From the President

Another bowling season has arrived. I want to welcome back all league bowlers and a special welcome to all of you who are new to our sport. This year is especially important to you as a league bowler because it is a transition year. Last spring the members of our association who attended our annual banquet voted to begin the merging process with the Moline/East Moline BA and the Rock Island/Milan BA. What this means to you as a bowler is that as of August 1, 2013 we will not be women and mens associations but a merged association of both men and women. Please plan to attend the merged annual meeting to be held at Highland Park South Hall on April 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM, to vote for the new by-laws and your leaders of officers and directors for the merged board. If you would like to volunteer your time and talents by becoming a director or officer, you will find application forms in your bowling centers or contact your current association manager. All current board members may be contacted as well. Its an exciting time for the members of this association as we begin to rewrite history in the Illinois Quad Cities bowling world. Our secretary workshops are now complete. Please ask your secretaries for forms to enter your City Tournament to be held at Milan Lanes February 4 - 10, 2013. Lets make this seasons tournament the best its ever been this year by YOU making the decision to get your bowling buddies together and forming a team and then pairing off for doubles and singles. Those who participate always have a great time! Come and join the fun. Another great opportunity to have fun, bowling the local 600/RIMM 9 pin no tap tourney scheduled for November 17, 2012 at Highland Park. Squad time is noon. You do not have to have bowled a 600 to participate. Bring a friend and come enjoy a fun afternoon of bowling, door prizes and good food. Look for entry forms at the lanes or ask your secretary for information. New this year is a new tournament called the Midwest Womens Tournament to be hosted by the Michigan State USBC WBA. The tournament opens May 18, 2013 and closes June 30, 2013 in Lansing Michigan. If you are choosing or unable to attend nationals this year, you might like to consider this tournament as an alternative. Contact Darryl Hixon or any board member for tournament forms. Next year this tournament will be held in Illinois. This tournament is exciting news for womens bowling. If you have any questions, problems or comments this bowling season, please contact me, the association office or any board member and well do our best to help you find the answers or solve your problems. Scholarship Awarded
The Illinois Womens 600 Bowling Club, Harriet L. Day 2012 Scholarship recipient is Kayla Gillis of Moline Illinois. She is a graduate of Moline High School and this fall attending Black Hawk College in Moline. Congratulations Kayla! The Harriet L. Day Scholarship is awarded to a female High School graduating senior who continues her education the following school calendar year. Applicant must have participated in an Illinois USBC Youth certified program.

Illinois State USBC WBA 84th Annual Tournament will be held February 2, 2013 thru April 28, 2013. Registration going on now. Entries close November 19, 2012. This years tournament will be hosted by Joliet, Illinois. Team event will take place at Strike N Spare II, with doubles and singles at Town and Country Lanes. 2013 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED IN MEMORIAM: Karen Dau, RIMM will be remembered.
