You are required to answer the following questions and provide a subnet range to support the above network specifications: 1. What is the highest number of host per network required?.....27..... 2. How many bits should be borrowed?........3......... 3. How many total Hosts will be created per subnet? .......32........ 4. How many usable hosts will be available per subnet? ......30...... 5. How many Total Subnets will be created? ............8.......... 6. What will be the new prefix for the network? ..../27..... 7. What will be the subnet Mask in Decimal? ......255.255.255.224.. 8. Draw the appropriate Subnet range with only the first four subnets

Activity 2: Finding the subnet range Given the following major IP address block (192.168.18.0/24), provide an appropriate subnet range to support the following network requirements. IT Dept: 11 Hosts, Finance: 6 Hosts, Sales: 13 Hosts Solution: Three (3) steps are needed to solve this problem: Step1: Obtain the new prefix based on the highest number of hosts 13 Hosts at least 4 Bits must be left and 4 bits borrowed Step2: Determine how many hosts are created 13 Hosts at least 4 Bits must be left and 4 bits borrowed We have 24 = 16 total hosts created and 24 = 16 total Subnets of 16 hosts each Step3: Draw the subnet range (based on the total number of hosts) You can complete the following table in four stages
Stage 1 Write major Ip address 0 1 2 3 4 5 5 15 Stage2 Increment the initial network address by the total Number of hosts Stage4 Network address + 1 Broadcast Address 1 Stage3 Write the Broadcast: The Ip before the Next Subnet

Your Turn!!!!
Exercise 1: block. Draw at least 17 first three Assume that you have been assigned the 200.35.1.0/24 network the appropriate range that allows the creation of networks with hosts on each subnet. Draw the required subnet range with the subnets.
Network Address First Usable Host address Last Usable Host Address Broadcast Address

Subnet Number 0 1 2

Exercise 2: Assume that you have been assigned the 172.15.1.0/24 network block. Draw the appropriate range that allows the creation of networks to support the network in the figure below

Subnet Number 0 1 2

Network Address

First Usable Host address

Last Usable Host Address
