hat is this magazine? Is it just another college magazine? Or is it a long shot at trying to make an MBA magazine? There may be many questions among the students of SIMSR especially the students who are not from PGDM-Communications. Well, this magazine is not just another magazine. It is a magazine which has been made exclusively by the students of PGDM- Communications at SIMSR. The students from PGDM-Communications aspire to work in creative fields after they graduate from here. So, this magazine is a platform for honing those skills while undergoing academic enrichment. Everything you see on the magazine, right from the photography, to the articles, the logo, the editing have all been done by the students. Such a platform will help not only hone the creative skills but will also help in grooming managerial skills for managing this entire bi-monthly magazine. So, how will it work? Students can contribute articles to the magazine. An inventory of such articles will be maintained & they will be gradually edited & published in the magazine on a monthly basis. This magazine will be circulated in the students circles; not only within the Somiaya campus but also outside campus! The medium of circulation will be soft copies of the magazine posted on various social networking sites & students forums. But, then what is this magazine about? Is it an MBA magazine which gives you additional gyaan about business management et al? No! This magazine is not an MBA magazine. It doesnt preach about various management jargons, nor does it burden you with a load of intellectual gibberish. It is just a canvas for the students to paint their ideas on for the outside world to see It is an escape for the readers from their busy life & an insight into the minds of so many people with diverse thoughts & perceptions. It is an interactive piece of art where we have no fixed team of writers or photographers. Everyone is welcome to contribute to our magazine in any way possible. It doesnt belong to the people who contributed to the first issue of this magazine. It belongs to the entire PGDM-Communications class at SIMSR & all other streams studying at SIMSR!!! So, for once, sit back, relax & let us take you through our world

The Agnostic God...

By Sam Thorat

we stopped realizing that the essence of these mythological legends is not the super natural adventures of the protagonists but the deeply rooted spiritual philosophy that came underway. The finer notes that the legends intended to teach us, like; the characteristics that should be portrayed by an ideal human being (Krishna), the disadvantages of being too gullible (Ram), the difficult choice of right over wrong (Geeta- as narrated by Krishna to Arjun), were easily overlooked as being absolutely human in nature. What looked more God-ish was Krishna hurling his Sudarshan Chakra at Shishupal or Ram fixing Shabris crooked back with a mere touch of a hand So, why did these feats appear to be more dramatic & mesmerizing than the simple human emotions & spiritual preaching that I mentioned earlier? The simple answer to this question being the excess importance attached by humans to miracles & associating such miracles with God

Mother Teresa, a catholic nun is notable for her humanitarian work in India. She laid the foundation of the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. The institution established several hospitals & provided refuge to countless people suffering from leprosy, HIV, tuberculosis, etc. She was also honored with the Nobel Peace Prize & Bharat Ratna. But, after her heavenly abode in 1997, there was a huge debate on whether she should be honored with Sainthood. As per the rules of the Vatican, a miracle performed by the said individual needs to be documented, (along with other criteria) to evaluate his/her eligibility for canonization.

Miraculously Human
What if these famous Krishnas or Rams did not possess such miraculous powers? Would they still be considered God? Or would they simply be court marshaled & stripped off their ranks! Considering the overall mentality of the masses (not only from India), it would definitely be the latter of the alternativesWe, the people, keep looking for God, but never look within ourselvesIt is high time we realized that if there is God, it is within us, humansA bunch of miracles doesnt determine Godly status; its the level of spiritual purity within oneself, that does

It is a general matter of perception when it comes to religion & faith. Every individual has his own choice of faith & spiritual beliefs. Though God is supposed to be a spiritual nirvana over all materialistic problems of the common folk, He is often misinterpreted & becomes the very reason for divide...

that has ten heads or six limbs. It can be a human being who has done great things for humanity but at the same time isnt capable of performing any miracles!!! Human is an agnostic God

How it Began?
We are a generation of individuals who grew up watching the Ramayana & Maharabharat on national television. We were brain washed with the miracles that the God men can do ranging right from an arrow splitting into ten to an excessively make-up clad Krishna enlarging to fifty times his size(extremely poor special effects) with the hauntingly depressing music playing in the background. Somewhere between the Ram Vs Ravan fight & the antiques portrayed by the girlish looking onscreen Krishna,

Recent Examples
When I mentioned earlier about the general mentality of the masses to attach excess importance to miracles, I didnt only consider the uneducated masses of developing countries; this mentality is common even among the much highly educated cream population of developed nations If you fail to get a picture of what I am trying to say here, you may like to rewind about a decade back, when Mother Teresa was to be honored with Sainthood (2003) Rewind

he question that arises from this debate is whether it is really justified to follow some God? Or maybe even, is there a God at all? Or is it just a bunch of human insecurities labeled with the Almighty tag! Here again, its all a matter of general perception which varies from individual to individual. Not being too judgmental, I would like to voice my own beliefs, Yes, there is God. But, it need not be some Rajhnikant type superhero creature that | Captioned : Emboss your thoughts... | Issue I

Now, isnt this hysterical stupidity! How can you have guidelines prescribed to determine whether a person is a Saint or otherwise? Doesnt that persons work itself speak loud enough? Why do you need unrealistic miracles? Well, the story doesnt end here. Infact, there was an Indian woman; Monica Besra, who testified that her tumor got cured because of a locket bearing the picture of Mother Teresa.Despite of medical reports stating otherwise, it was taken to be a miracle! The medical reports clearly stated that the cure had been on account of timely & effective medication. But, the masses were too blinded with the delight of a miracle to realize so But, even this was insufficient for the Vatican, as another miracle performed by Mother Teresa was demanded Ultimately, the Goddess(as I believe her to be) was not given sainthood, just coz a few idiots believed that she didnt perform ample miracles! Another more recent example is that of,

Sathya Sai Baba. Much has been spoken & written about this spiritual guru, who many believed was a reincarnation of another spiritual guru (God man) Sai Baba. Sathya Sai Baba passed away about a year back (24th April 2011) in Puttaparthi, his hometown. This guru had innumerous followers; but, at the same time, he had an equal number of critics. His entire life was hounded continuously by controversies; right from his claims of being a reincarnation of Sai Baba to his miraculously materializing objects out of thin air. Even his death, spurned out a new controversy. He had predicted that he will live hale & heartily for 96 years after which he will leave his earthly bondage. However, his death at the age of 84, erred his prediction & raised a serious question over his holy status.

chains, and a man who can puke out an entire golden lingam! Thus, we ask such gurus to fool us & consequently get what we ask for.So then, why do we crib???!!! Seriously speaking, how will it ever matter if Sathya Sai Baba was or was not a reincarnation of Sai Baba? All that will ever matter was that he was a guru who taught lifes meaning to many & did so much for humanity that even a fairy tale God couldnt! All the hiffy-jiffy miracles were just a means of getting his brilliant work accepted by people who would have otherwise doubted his selfless intentions (Ask yourself that!)

So,Why Fight?
All said & done, why do we create a divide in His name? He is within us; so, we should respect ourselves & respect the ones around usHe is not there in some lifeless golden idol fixed in a temple for years. He is omnipresent, coz he is in everyone around you & He need not perform shoddy miracles to prove his holiness

Be the Creator & believe in youself!!!

It is high time we realized that if there is a God, it is within us, humansA bunch of miracles dont determine Godly status; its the level of spiritual purity within oneself that does
WHAT IS GOD?
Whenever a toddler asks this question to his parents, the most likely answer is, Beta, He is the Almighty. He is omnipresent. He built the world we live in!!! Well, thats a rather convincing answer for a five year old. But, do you too believe in that answer? Yes, God is Almighty. Accepted, that he is omnipresent. But, did he really build the world we live in? Yes, he did. But, not in the way you think The fairy tale God that people believe in, must have created the physical world that we live in, but it was just a platform. He did create man but he didnt give man robes, he didnt give man shelter. It was man who evolved over time & made amazing inventions along the way. The world was built by God, not the fairy tale God; but the God that resides within an average Human Being. It was a human being that invented electricity, a human mind that developed an internal combustion engine, a mortal genius who designed the microchip. It was the God within these great people that made it possible.

THE AGNOSTIC GOD (a poetic narrative...)

Out there on the village street, Burning out in the summer heat, Lay a child, hurt, hungry & crying, With more & more people around him dying... It was the street of a holy city, but the question among the people was ,who is the deity?... No one cared to look at the child, No one tried to save him, For them it was all about being wild, For them it was all about Ram or Rahim... A bearded shopkeeper lay beside the child, injured badly in the riot wild; He cast a gaze into the weary sky, calling to Allah, he asked the question why?... The childs cry reached his bleeding ear, He looked at the child wondering about his reason for being here; He immediately lifted the child in his arms, and made his way to the nearby barns... He looked at the childs innocent face, Thinking of how his community will treat him as a disgrace; He happened to be the child of a Hindu fanatic, who had broken up his house, blown up his attic... We Compel Them
Sathya Sai Baba may or may not have been a reincarnation of Sai Baba (no offence). But, he did some great work worthy enough to be honored & respected. He set up a Super Specialty Hospital, international schools, educational institutions, etc. But, was that enough? Frankly speaking, considering the narrow minded mentality of our uneducated masses, it wasnt. They dont need to respect some spiritual guru who can do such normal human deeds. Thats extraordinarily human! They need miracles. They need a guy who can materialize holy ash out of thin air, a man who can materialize gold 8 | Captioned : Emboss your thoughts... | Issue I

There is God within all of us, only if we know where to look

Soon the police came & imposed a curfew, Arrested some people & let go a few... This was a normal day in Ayodhya, the place neither Ram nor Rahim would ever devour... By night, the injured Muslim took the child to his home, Standing in the dark, shone the lighted dome; Seeing the child, his father rushed outside, Having heard the news, even the neighbors cheered from the roadside... The father looked at the Muslim, He just went near & hugged him; Soon enough the Muslim collapsed, the killing pain in his head had relapsed... The Hindu immediately arranged for medication, moved by the Muslims dedication... Dedication to his religion, coz Islam doesnt teach to kill, it teaches to save humanity... The Muslim was a God for the Hindu... He built a house for the Muslim, Today he was homeless coz of him... He showed his dedication to his religion as Hinduism doesnt teach to destroy, it teaches to create... The Hindu was a God for the Muslim... Today I ask everyone, Where is Ram, Where is Rahim??? Humanity is the only religion & man is the only being!!! There is no religion & there is no other God as great as him... HUMAN is GOD without believing!!! P.S. - The title Agnostic God is justified by the last verse which states that human is God who doesnt believe himself to be one. I have used the words Hindu & Muslim repeatedly to increase the effect of the narrative. I do not wish to hurt any ones sentiments; I just wish to make people think... --------------------

But, at the same time I believe that it wont make a huge difference per se the main reason being our Constitution holds a President as just a nominal head of the country & so there are not many policy or administrative decisions that he has a control over...To sum it up in 1 line, he will just be a helpless spectator with the President tag without much power to control things.... Shraddha Desai believes that no one can match up to the benchmark set by Dr.Kalam during his tenure, Dr, Kalam would have been the best choice according to me. Being a Muslim, he completed his term well and without falling into any controversies. Anyone else, I believe would be a mere puppet with the strings in Sonia Gandhis hands. Vibahv Kamat seconds her thoughts, What Seemed a Huge Hype turned out to be a simple walkover for Pranab Mukharjee. Being elected as 13th President of India has not made an impact on a positive scale, right from his adamant stand for contesting the post against party allies drawing faces around making controversies amongst top bureaucrats and makers and movers of the economy Its sad that a person in India is judged by his Loyalty to the party and caste issues rather than the credibility and worth for that particular post. having a wide Experience as a Finance Minister this 5ft Person who uses a Stool to hit the podium has all eyes on him. With all the Faith shown in him by the UPA and Alliances already drew a lot of criticism towards them. A lot of issues that need to be made justice to are still pending, whther he would make a difference or not is still a paradox since the party leaders have been previously been identified as mere Puppets dancing to the tunes of a few.

e come across group discussions in our day to day life. Some of them proceed smoothly while others tend to end up into debates. We have kept this section in the magazine to encourage the students community to participate in healthy discussions & debates. It is wrong to say that Ignorance is Bliss. Infact, it is criminal not to have an opinion about any issue. It is very important to have knowledge about the events happening around us & to have a point of view on the same. This column will showcase multiple points of view & diverse perceptions of different individuals on a certain issue followed by a brief write up regarding this scenario by a colleague who loves to analyse political issues The topic for discussion this month was,

probably make some difference although the role of president is not as supreme as that of our Prime Minister. As it is known that he has won many prestigious awards and is considered as one of the best Finance ministers in the world. With vast experience in politics and Indian economy, the expectation from our new president exist... rest, waqt hi dikhayga..!!

Pranab Mukherjee is our new President. Will he make a difference?

We got quite some views fro different batchmates regarding this issue... The discussion started off with a couple of cynical views, followed by some strongly optimistic & a few analytical views regarding the situation... Sohil Jain put forth a negative view on this saying, no it does not make any huge difference His thought was carried forward by Samarsingh Thorat. He believes that the credibility of Pranab da for the big job is unquestioned,

Strong optimism was shown by Charvi Khanna, who believes that, Pranab da is the right choice... definitely yes! he was a finance minister in his previous term and has been the defence and external affairs Overall, it was a healthy discussion & we got to know the minister,is well qualified, well read and an eminent diverse views of different people. The topic of discussion personality! right choice!. for the next months issue will be posted on the Official PGDM Communications page on Faebook & various Niraj Seth also feels positive about the scenario, yes..he other student community pages on different social has tremendous knowledge and sense of application as networking websites. Stay tuned ... a politician serving way beyond expectations during his initial days as youth congress minister to Indira Gandhi regime and now..served as a backbone of INC..he has the caliber, capability and the aura associated...even... the opposition voted him to be the PRESIDENT...he will be a good president Ruchi Vyas also shows optimism by saying, Pranab Mukherjees presence as the president would be particularly memorable if he can, within the limits imposed by constitutional propriety, soothe our fractious coalition-era politics. The government has lost its most experienced minister, and the nation has gained a president with immense political stature. He would know how to fall back on traditions and conventions when necessary and when to look for fresh ways to break new impasses or constitutional deadlocks. Nonetheless, she feels that the President needs to make strong & unprejudiced decisions. The most important thing is that he should use the wonderful brain he has and not act like someones puppet. Sneha Zawar feels that despite his immense credibility he failed to be an effective finance minister He has immense knowledge undoubtedly but even when he had the countrys most important portfolio, Indias financial position was badly hampered and he failed Issue I | Captioned : Emboss your thoughts... |

to implement strong decisions. She doesnt feel that this incident will help the country in any way but nontheless is very hopeful... In a country like India where president is said to be mere a rubber stamp authority how much productive and effficent presidential role pranab mukherjee will potray is definitrly a big issue of concern, nevertheless we just hope that his presidential regime proves historic for our country and he do take some rational decisions to elevate Indias position globally

I believe that our country does need a president who has had a great political career & whose political record has been clear of charges like corruption. Also, he has been a minister of external affairs & holds a huge reputation Admist all this pessism there was a positive side to this in the eyes of developed nations like the US. discussion shown by Nikkesh Thakkar. He also voiced the fact about the limited powers of the President but But, at the same time he expresses concern on the he believes there is a ray of hope... limited aunthority endowed on the President by our constitution. He wanted to be a Horse in the Rashtrapati Bhavan stables enjoying the greenery with no work. Well, the new home is no bed of roses. India must change the lives of 680 million that are hovering below the poverty line. An anti-corruption bill, a whistle blower protection act etc are the need of the hour. As a President he should look into it & ensure that the government delivers the same. Looking at the positives, he is one of the most experienced in the political fraternity, knows the constitution and the countrys problems well and a very simple Bengali man who likes his food and his Durga pooja. So there is no reason why this ex pipe-smoker wont make a difference. He will.just hope its a soothing one!

Pranab Mukherjee has always been a no. 2 in all Congress Governments right from the Indira Gandhi time.
If the President joins hands with the Prime Minister, the two can become a powerful source of constitutional and political wholesomeness. A President can help the Prime Minister ward off unhealthy demands of coalition partners. 14 | Captioned : Emboss your thoughts... | Issue I Issue I | Captioned : Emboss your thoughts... | 15

All izz well.. Ice Breaker Event - Student Activity Fourm

Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. - Semisonic - Closing Time
A fresh start, the first step of not knowing what to expect and being surrounded by new faces; thats how the first batch of PGDM Integrated Marketing Communications students ushered in a new phase of their lives on the of June 18th, 2012 at K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management studies and Research (SIMSR). Two gruelling weeks of induction sessions lead to the Ice Breaker event AII Izz Well organized by the senior students of Student Activity Forum (SAF), the cultural committee of SIMSR who welcomed the juniors with as much enthusiasm and excitement as there could be. There were certain rules that were to be followed during the three day event. It included class dress codes, activities taking place after college hours, each class highlighting their identity and also having to come up with a WAR cry or anthem.

The preparation and team spirit was evident right from the very start. It was impossible to miss the PGDM Communications logo which was a colored palm anywhere you went on campus. Every Communication student proudly showed off the official marketing logo of their course on their student I-Card that urged other students to communicate and speak up. The truly innovative activity of the IMC hostilities serving lunch in the mess to all those hungry juniors and seniors who came in after a tiring morning weighed down by continuous lectures created great excitement and buzz. This service with a greeting and a smile was followed during dinner time as well with the girls dressing to put up a Hawaiian theme for the night. They performed a skit that made the entire Amphitheatre laugh out Loud ! The feedback and the overwhelming response that poured in from the seniors showed that we were a force to be reckoned with and anything but behind in this competition. The pat on the back for the togetherness and innovation displayed by the batch said it all. It was creativity mixed in equal dose with spirit

There were fun games like lemon and spoon and also arm wrestling wherein IMCians went hoarse cheering and egging their classmates to do their best. Nivedita helped IMC win the arm wrestling competition. This was followed by a sportingly enthusiastic performance by Sam waltzing to Pehla Nasha that got the entire audi asking for more! The event ended on an exhilarating high with the premier batch of IMC winning the award for the course who had the best marketing promotions strategies that were highly effective in getting them noticed in a big way. This was followed by a fabulous dance performance by the class representatives Shruti and Krishna who set the stage ablaze dancing to Chikni Chameli and thus ending the event on an all-time memorable high !!! I was would like to conclude this experience with our anthem that was composed by our talented classmate Riddhi

BON APPETIT

By Sneha Zawar

Under the waters of the deep blue sea I swam cross quarters intrigued as can be The waves agreed to show me around; tide in my fawn, I had time on my hands for each day, a new flavor Chasing squid, thumb-wrestling with sharks Shoal of lantern fish lit the night so dark Queen Octopus invited me to the royal lunch Angel fish, eels, snakes, oysters the whole marine bunch Asked why day by day I was growing thinner? And promised to feed me right upto dinner So I ate and ate to my hearts delight Morning and afternoon, then came night. We went to the banquet, but, where was the food? They looked at me, with knives ready. Then I understood.

hildhood, the word itself takes us down the memory lane, a phase of life which is a perfect blend of joy, fear, adventures, innocence and most importantantly the tendency to experiment. When every day is a challenge, the biggest fear is punishment for not doing homework and the ecstasy of joy is cherished with a candy or an ice cream. No matter which country, which place and which society, childhood is synonymous to memories that we cherish all our life. So was the life of 8 year old Akio, the pampered child of Jiro and Akemi, staying in Machi, near Fuki. Jiro was a school teacher and Akemi was a nurse. Life for Akio was a joy ride. Being the only son, all his wishes were fulfilled; he used to love his school not for studies but for sports. Akio was an overall bright child & he developed a passion for Judo and Football. His parents were very supportive & used to give him wings to fly in the horizon he wanted. Akio was no different than any other kid of his age but destiny has its own role to play. One evening when the family went for a drive as a part of their weekend regime, things turned out to be appalling and turned Akios world upside down. Their car met with an accident, little Akio lost his mother, and his right hand was amputated. His father survived with minor fractures and injuries. The boisterous, chirpy and lively childhood of Akio was shadowed by caliginosity of grief and pain. His life became gloomy; unaware of the awful confronts of life, Akio was traumatised. Jiro, also traumatised having lost his beloved wife fought back his tears & gathered all his courage for his son who he needed him. Jiros life now revolved around the sole purpose of fulfilling Akios wish. Jiro tried his best to bring his son back to life. The agony of losing a beloved was not the only anguish; Akio had lost his right hand and all his dreams appeared to be shattered. Jiro took care of every small need of his lovely son and one day he asked- Son why dont you start going back to school? All your friends must be missing you. Akio replied Dad I dont want to study without my hand What will I do? How will I play football? I wanted to learn martial arts and wanted to excel in Judo! Now without my hand how will I do

that? My friends will laugh at me, I cant do anything. Akio broke down into tears. His sobs tore his fathers heart apart. He reassured him with a calm voice My beloved, dont worry, I will find you a teacher who can teach you Judo Akio interjected, ButJiro placed his hand on his sons head & said Have faith in me The little boy without saying anything embraced his father with his left hand and kissed him. Jiro was worried about the promise he had made to his son. He started looking for a teacher who could train his son in Judo by overcoming his shortcoming of an amputated right hand. He approached all the JUDOKAS (Judo practitioners) one by one; some of the best as well as some not so good, but nobody was willing to coach his son. He was losing hope. It felt as if the world was collectively conniving to not allow his son to be part of what he thought was his dream. He himself composed and recited a prayer every day. He believed that he will make his child a capable individual, make him stand out from the masses. With this he went to meet a senior Judo coach who was a 65 year old Judo veteran. He explained everything to him and asked if he could coach his son? 65 year old Mitsuki replied Surely I will do that, but I have a condition. During the entire tenure of coaching neither you nor your son should ask me any question about my training. The day you think I am doing it wrong, you are free to leave but dont ask me any questions. If you agree to that I am ready to train your son. With hope sparkling in Mitsuis words, Jiro felt extreme happiness and agreed to his condition. Next day onwards Akio started his training with Mitsuki. Akio started training with Mitsui, but after a few days he started feeling weird and strange, when others were trained with different moves and techniques. Every day he was told to practise the same technique and same move. He shared his grievances with his father. Jiro thought in his mind, may be due to Akios physical disability, Mitsuki is not following a sincere and thorough rigour of training his son but he was bounded by the condition that was imposed by the senior judoka. Jiro tried to convince his son on this front by giving different explanations but back in his mind he was still sceptical about it.With days and months passing things were not Issue I | Captioned : Emboss your thoughts... | 21

changing for Akio; he was made to practice the same move again and again. After a year Mitsuki called up Akio & told him that he needs to compete with the fellow learners. Let me see how well you do, Mitsuki said. Akio tried defending the situation but Mitsui was a coach of a different genre and he was unmoved and said I have trained you. Now let me see how well you can showcase it. Just have faith and fight back with whatever technique I have taught you. Akio felt reassured & made up his mind to put in a fight. He fought against his fellow trainee & after 3 rounds it was surprising to know the result as Akio won the game! Mitsuki acknowledged it with a smile. But, his practise regime did not change; he was made to practice the same technique day in & day out. One fine day, Mitsuki called up Akio and asked him to participate in Intercity Judo competition. Akio was a sincere and dedicated student and he took his coachs order and without being apprehensive about it. He gave a nod and participated. He won that competition too. Everyone was amazed. Jiro was feeling happy about his sons achievement. After Intercity, it was Interstate and then National level Judo fight Akio never looked back as he was winning every fight. The success made him forget about his disability. Then, there was a day when Akio was set to compete against Japans best Judo player. This was the moment when he felt low on morale. He confronted Mitsuki and expressed his concern that his opponent is the best Judo player. He has mastered the game with all techniques and I know only one! With this inefficiency, how do I fight against a champion? Mitsuki replied calmly U have done it till now, dont look down upon yourself, give thy best, and believe in yourself . Akio was all set to compete against the best. Both father and son were equally tensed, with tension piling up with every moment and heart, beating at its fastest pace. The day of the competition arrived. Akio entered the ring & the much awaited fight started. Akio was trying his best to keep his mentors hope and belief in him intact.
22 | Captioned : Emboss your thoughts... | Issue I

The fight went on for 25 minutes & the result shook everyone. Every one sitting there was awestruck. It was impossible to believe that the best Judo player had lost to Akio. Akio was the winner! With thunderous applause going on in the background, Akio looked at Jiro & they both broke down into tears. It was a miracle. It was too hard to believe but it was a dream come true! On their way back home Jiro asked Mitsui I know you dont like to be questioned, but this one thing is still pricking my mind and I want you to answer it. How did this happen? How come a physically disabled, who was trained with only 1 technique during his entire training regime with you, beat some of the finest Judo players of country? With a faint smile Mitsuki replied The best mentor is the one who converts your weakness into your biggest strength, who makes his students stand out , an individual who can beat the monotony, who can break the set prejudices with his achievements and thats what I did. The only reason I made Akio master the single technique was that the defence for his move was to hit on the right hand of the opponent and since your son didnt have a right hand there was no technique by which he could be defended and thats how I trained him to combat and win. Tears were rolling down the cheeks of Jiro and Akio by now. There was nothing that could show the gratitude they felt for Mitsuki

If the world conspires, becomes unpredictable and refrains you from achieving your goals; be the change, initiate things and set bench marks that are unprecedented There is only 1 king and rest despite of trying hard end up being pawns. So nothing is impossible because even it says I M POSSIBLE. Just have faith in yourself and feel you are blessed with individualistic abilities that cannot be surpassed

Individualism

Individualism V/s Collectivism

Respect for an individual comes from the unique personality that he extols. yearns to make something out of himself. Trying to stereotype an individual into a specific category kills the integrity that he bears.

It is not important to be like someone. It is important to be someone!

The Importance of I
Of all the people that we have to bear every day, the most frequent face is our own. We are with us all the time & still barely do we realise that there exists a person within us; A person who has a complete right to think about himself before others. It may be looked upon as selfishness but then there is nothing wrong in it. One ought to respect oneself, ones dreams, ones passions & ones aspirations. It doesnt mean that you totally ignore other people or intentionally cause harm to others. But, if someones helplessness or grief cannot be connected with, there is nothing wrong in it!

Collectivism
When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it. -Frederic Bastiat
Collectivism is a social setting where all individuals are looked upon as homogenous units forming a society who are interdependent on each other for sustenance & growth. This social setting believes in give & take of resources within the individuals.

Individualism & Passion

It is very difficult for an individual to maintain his intrinsic qualities & battle out the external factors which may make him deviate from his path consciously or sub consciously. Many a times it may also result in the murder of that persons passion. It may happen because it is considered a norm in our society that every individual is the same. Everyone can do everything & there exists nothing like passion or aptitude for a certain profession. We are all rats running in a rat race on a ship which is sinking! Is it possible for the liver to pump blood? Is it possible for the ears to see? Or the eyes to smell? Each of these organs exhibit a unique characteristic which cannot be found in the other. Individuals are just like that. Everybody has a unique character & a unique passion the fulfilment of which is the basic reason for his existence. But, collectivism murders this passion

Importance of We
Collective growth is given more importance than individual growth & the society as a whole comes before the individual. This is a perfect social setting wherein a group of individuals can work towards a common goal as a team unified by passion. It is a better approach than confronting a problem single handedly. In a group certain members can cover up for the mistakes committed by certain others thereby ensuring smooth progress of the group to the ultimate destination. Selflessness & altruism are virtues that are encompassed by collectivism. They teach the group members to prioritise collective good in comparison to selfish desires. They need the members to have apathy for the other members of the group.

I was in my early 20s when I hit on the boulevard, I was tired of portraying my art in my own back yard; I wanted to paint my way into peoples minds, Open their eyes to a world which they couldnt see through their blinds A boulevard which clearly laid a forked path, To follow my dreams or slog in the rat race & crib in the aftermath; It had to be a decision with all considerations borne, A simple mistake & Id have a lifetime of mourn Crumbling under pressure I settled down for a smoke, Weighed down by my dreams, I lit the stick of good hope, How could my dream be so unacceptable to the society? So, why should I be afraid to dream? There is an entire world out there to cream; Though it would mean less financial security, It would save me from a lifetime of exasperated obscurity I flicked off the butt & turned to face the world, a calm person waiting for his passion to be unfurled

A verse on Individualism & Passion

A Flight of Fancy...
As a child I was much of a dreamer, I used to wonder about things, I used to ponder how they worked Even as I would watch my favorite cartoon entertainer; Even as Jerry would look around for Tom, little knowing of the danger that lurked, The thought of how they made these cartoons happen? often left me irked As I flipped the channels on the television set, Browsing impatiently through efforts made by people to entertain me, I got hooked up to a particular channel, cause by now cartoons were bothering me, I saw news carrying the details of a space mission to the moon, I pondered on the happenings as the man on the moon walked on a sand dune Then there in the late 90s, everyones pockets had been run dry by a mighty sting, The market was flooded with a phone which needed no wire to ring, It was the era of the cellphone, Sparkling & tingling as it shone, It again made me wonder of the passion borne by the chap who deserved the royal throne I grew on to become a moderately average guy, Weighed down by the narrow minded mentality of our society, Conjoint with the world in the rat race to the ultimate perish, Chasmed from it by a passion that promised to drive me to the finish I had a dream of becoming an artist, Not the type of ones you see when you are asleep, But the ones that you watch with open eyes

Batman: The Dark Knight Rises

Deshi Deshi Basara Basara!!! Epic end to an epic journey!
Nobody else could have revived the Batman legacy in a better manner than Christopher Nolan. With the release of the final part of the trilogy, there were many speculations regarding how the series would come to a closure. Will it be better than the previous two parts or will it be overshadowed by the success of the penultimate predecessor, The Dark Knight? But, Nolan didnt disappoint! The movie begins a few years from where The Dark Knight left us. It moves forth steadily with the introduction of the main characters. The opening scene of Banes jail break is a visual treat. The direction is amazing & the SFX used have been crafted to perfection. Later the movie tends to lose its pace towards the end of the former half. The second half begins at a slow pace again testing the patience of the audience who are by now getting restless for more intense action. But, after a while it accelerates rapidly & the climax is simply intriguing. The twists & turns in the plot towards the end coupled with meticulously directed action scenes & visually mesmerizing special effects promise to give the audience a complete value for their money! Christain Bale(The Batman) gives an enthralling performance & his role is greatly complimented by the eye candy cat-woman Anne Hathway(CatWoman). Tom Hardy(Bane) handles his role with sheer brilliance, his fabricated voice managing to give goose bumps on several occasions. The character of Bane is very intense & dark. Nonetheless, one may feel that his acting potential has not been exploited to its fullest capacity & there could have been more intense scenes. The famous scene from the comic where Bane lifts up the Batman & breaks his back by hurling him on to his knee has been perfectly incorporated, giving the die-hard batman fans a tint of sepia. Another interesting character is that of Joseph Gordon(Blake) who plays a young enthusiastic detective. The entire visual treat wouldnt have been half as appealing but for the amazing soundtrack by Hans Zimmer especially the Bane Chant. It adds to the intensity of the plot keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. Overall, its a a perfect conclusion to the legacy. But, will Nolan think about another part? Afterall the end of the movie, did introduce a famous character...Well, only time will tell Overall Rating- 4/5
