You are required to complete the following tasks:

Task 1 You have been asked to produce a word processed report describing the hardware and software required to create and edit graphical images. Your must demonstrate good presentation and graphical design skills. 1a) Describe how each of the following hardware components can be used in a computer system to create and manipulate digital graphics. (Illustrate with examples of each of the following:) Mouse Monitor (mobile phone, PDA) Graphics Tablet (Compare With Mouse) Digital camera Scanner Flash cards USB Storage Printers

Describe how the following hardware components can affect the performance of the computer system when digital graphics are being manipulated. Hard Drive Graphics Cards Processor(s) RAM

Describe 2 types of software packages which can be used to create and edit graphics. Examples of software might include: Paint, Photoshop, Gimp or Illustrator. In your report explain key tools and functions of the software giving examples to illustrate.

1b)Compare the limitatons of the hardware components along with the software packages, as described in task 1a, which can be used for graphic manipulation.

1C) You will need to research new and emerging technologies and developments that are being used in the development and manipulation of images as well as changes on how output media products such as large flat screens, printer technologies, mobile phones, tablets, games consoles etc are developing. Produce a report describing the effect this has on the creating and manipulating of digital graphics. Use examples to discuss and illustrate your answer.

Task 2 2a) Explain the features and limitations of Graphical file formats. Your discussion should include an overview of the following: Types and uses of file formats Different file sizes Vector and Bitmap Graphics The Benefits and limitations of these.

2b) Describe two of the file format compression techniques available, illustrate with relevant examples. 2c) Describe what is known as resolution and colour depth and explain with at least 2 examples the impact different settings would have on graphical images.
