WASTE HEAT RECOVERY EQUIPMENT LIST OF INSTALLATIONS


The G. C. Broach Company has an extensive history with the design and manufacture of Waste Heat Recovery Systems. The following is a list of some of our many projects involving primarily heat recovery from turbine engine exhaust. Many of the systems on the following list included flue gas bypass diverter assemblies, instrumentation, and controls.
Alberta Natural Gas Company 125,400,000 BTU/Hr. Combination Auxiliary Fired Waste Heat Recovery Unit and Direct Fired Furnace, capable of full duty on natural draft when the turbine is shut down. This unit has a radiant section as well as a convection section which is capable of the full duty by absorbing the turbine exhaust heat without auxiliary firing. The fluid charge to this unit is a heat medium oil. The turbine is a John Brown Frame 5. All American Pipeline Company 60,000,000 BTU/Hr. Auxiliary Fired Heater 60,000,000 BTU/Hr. (Thirteen Units)

These units were among the thirty-five heaters we furnished to heat a 1700 mile heavy crude oil pipeline from California to Texas. These thirteen totally automated units utilize the exhaust from eighteen Solar Centaur Engines. The eleven auxiliary fired units are designed for full duty, with or without engine exhaust.

ARCO Alaska 114,000,000 BTU/Hr. Per Unit, All Convective Waste Heat Recovery. We have sold six of these units to ARCO for their low pressure gas separation flow stations on the North Slope. The fluid charge to these units is 62/38% Triethylene Glycol. The turbines are GE Frame 5. Per Unit, All Convective Waste Heat Recovery. We have sold two of these units to ARCO for their Reinjection Gas System on the North Slope. The fluid to these units is 60/40% Monoethylene Glycol. The turbines are GE Frame 5. All Convective Waste Heat Recovery Unit. This unit is included in the ARCO North Slope Depropanizer System. The fluid to this unit is Dowtherm LF. The turbine is a Ruston TB-5000. 121,600,000 BTU/Hr. All Convective Waste Heat Recovery Unit utilizing exhaust gas from one G. E. Frame 5 Turbine located in ARCO's Central Gas Facility on the North Slope of Alaska. The fluid charge is Therminal 59 Heat Medium Oil.

Caribbean Utilities Company 12,000,000 BTU/Hr. Per unit, Diesel Engine Exhaust Gas Forced Circulation Heat Recovery Steam Generator complete with boiler evaporator, economizer, steam drum, boiler circulating pumps, interconnecting piping, boiler valves instrumentation, automatic sootblowers, flue gas diverter dampers, silencers, and flue gas isolation guillotine damper. from one power generating Krupp Mach diesel engine. CNTIC/Fluor China Services 155,000,000 BTU/Hr. Auxiliary Fired Waste Heat Recovery Boiler. This unit is unique in that it has four separately controlled simultaneous services, i.e., regeneration gas heating, ammonia water heating and vaporization, natural circulation steam generation section with boiler feedwater heating and deaeration and utility water heating. The turbine is a Nuovo Pignone single shaft Frame 5. Coastal States Gas Producing Company 52,000,000 BTU/Hr. Per Unit, Auxiliary Fired, Radiant and Convective Waste Heat Recovery. E.I. duPont & Dev - Australia 38,900,000 BTU/Hr. Vertical Firetube Process Gas Cooler utilizing 2084F process gas to produce 37,525 Lbs/Hr of 200 PSIG saturated steam. The unit is located in Queensland, Australia. 53,000,000 BTU/Hr.

Enterprise currently has two of these units in combination heat medium/isopentane vaporizer/isobutane service. Each unit recovers heat from three IngersolRand GT-22 Turbines. Georgia Pacific Corporation 63,000,000 BTU/Hr. Auxiliary Fired Waste Heat Recovery System to heat air for drying sheet rock, utilizing the exhaust gas from three Solar Saturn Turbines located in Buchanan, New York. Glitsch 35,508,000 BTU/Hr. All Convective Natural Circulation Heat Recovery Steam Generartor producing 31,838 Lbs/Hr of 610 PSIG steam superheated to 1180F. Firetube Waste Heat Boiler generating 50,000 Lbs/Hr of 185 PSIG saturated steam with 1800F off-gas from a spent sulfuric acid regenerator furnace. The system includes a single pass horizontal tube evaporator section, elevated steam drum, instrumentation, and a refractory lined inlet plenum with provisions for manual online cleaning.

M-C Power 1,250,000 BTU/Hr. Auxiliary Fired, Skid Mounted, Heat Recovery Steam Generator for a Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Research & Development Project at Miramar Naval Base, San Diego, California. The unit also preheats natural gas and turbocharger air for the fuel cell. The project is a joint venture between the U.S. Department of Energy, M-C Power Corp., Bechtel Corp., Stewart & Stevenson, and the Institute of Gas Technology.

Auxiliary Fired Heat Recovery Steam Generator producing 80,000 Lbs/Hr of 150 PSIG steam, including Steam Drum, Economizer, Fuel Train, and all Controls. This unit utilizes exhaust gas from one Rolls Royce Avon 1535 Model 160 Gas Turbine located in Malaysia.

Mobil Equatorial Guinea 40,000,000 BTU/Hr. Per Unit, All Convective Waste Heat Recovery Units. We have sold two of these units for the Mobil Jade Project located offshore Equatorial Guinea. The fluid charge to these units is 50% TEG Solution, the turbines are Solar.

Per Unit, Heat Recovery Heat Media Heaters with stainless steel process heat transfer coils, flue gas diverters, exhaust stack, bypass stack (with integral silencer), ducts, expansion joints, and raincaps. Each unit utilizes exhaust gas from one General Electric LM 2500 Gas Turbine. Per Unit, All Convective Waste Heat Recovery. These two units were sold to Northwest Pipeline for service in their Opal, Wyoming Turbo Expander Plant. The turbines are Solar Centaurs and the fluid charge is Exxon Caloria HT 43 Heating Oil.

Combination Auxiliary Fired Waste Heat Recovery Unit and Direct Fired Crude Heater, capable of full duty on natural draft when the turbine is shut down. This unit has a radiant section as well as a convection section designed to heat and vaporize crude oil entering a distillation column. The turbine is a Solar Mars 100.

Phillips Petroleum Company 15,815,000 BTU/Hr.

All Convective Economizer coil for a Waste Heat Boiler. This unit heats 219,563 Lbs/Hr of Boiler Condensate located in Old Ocean, Texas.

58,640,000 BTU/Hr.

All Convective Heat Recovery Steam Generator located in Guayama, Puerto Rico utilizing the exhaust from a 128 M2 BTU/Hr Platformer Heater. This unit produces 68,628 Lbs/Hr of 160 PSIG Saturated Steam.

Qualcomm 7,200,000 BTU/Hr. All Convective Water Heater recovering heat from one Solar Saturn Turbine. California.

S. A. Meneven 27,900,000 BTU/Hr. Per Unit, All Convective Waste Heat Recovery. There are three of these units for use in Meneven's NGL Plant in Eastern Venezuela. The fluid charge to these units is heating oil. The engines are Nuovo-Pignone Model #MS 1002.

Saudi Aramco 2,600,000 BTU/Hr.

Per Unit, Waste Heat Recovery and Fuel Gas Production Systems. These thirty-three units were complete skid mounted NGL to Turbine Fuel Gas Vaporization Units. These units utilized turbine exhaust gas to vaporize NGL to produce fuel for thirty-three Pratt & Whitney FT-4 Engines driving the pumps for Saudi Aramco's East/West Pipeline. During the 1990 East/West Pipeline Expansion, these units were replaced with 22 - 13.5 M 2 Broach Hot Oil Heaters, to produce fuel for the original thirty-three FT-4 Turbines, twenty-two Cooper-Rolls Coberra Turbines, and eight Allison Turbines.

Sohio 95,000,000 BTU/Hr. Per Unit, All Convective Waste Heat Recovery. We have sold four of these units to Sohio for their low pressure gas separation gathering centers on the North Slope. The fluid charge to these units is pressurized water for heat medium use. The engines are GE Frame 5.

All Convective Waste Heat Recovery designed to utilize the exhaust from one Solar Saturn Engine to heat Syltherm 800HT Heat Transfer Fluid for research purposes.

SRI-U-THONG 42,000,000 BTU/Hr. Supplementally Fired Waste Heat Recovery Unit recovering heat from one Solar Taurus 70 Turbine. This unit contains a Santotherm 66 hot oil coil and a natural circulation low pressure steam coil with an elevated steam drum. This unit is located in Bangkok, Thailand. Tatham Offshore 17,500,000 BTU/Hr.

Waste Heat Recovery Hot Oil Heater complete with flue gas diverter dampers, zero flue gas leakage isolation guillotine dampers, silencers, and sequencing control panel with programmable logic control (PLC), utilizing the exhaust gas from either of two Solar Centaur T4700 Turbine Generators.

Supplementally fired controlled-circulation, high temperature, severe duty, abrasion resistant Heat Recovery Steam Generator, producing 190,000 Lbs/Hr of steam at 750F, complete with drums, superheater, economizer, circulating pump skid, all connecting piping and valves, and control system, utilizing flue gas from a high temperature CO incinerator located in Alma, Michigan.

Ultramar, Inc. 54,000,000 BTU/Hr. Unocal Thailand, Ltd. 2,900,000 BTU/Hr. All Convective Bare Tube Heat Recovery Steam Generator utilizing Cat Cracker flue gas.
