was an archaic flattish cranium hominid to begin with. The face projects outwards also, which is another archaic feature, met usually in Homo erectus skull-types. However, this would turn out to be no Homo erectus Measurement of the fossil back at the Westrips home afterwards showed the remaining specimen material to be 15.7cm in length from front of projecting muzzle to rear of braincase, by 8.5cm in depth, the sloping face from top of brow ridge area being 9.5cm tall, the facial area being 9cm in width. I also observed the face had been pushed leftwards, the cranial area being 9cm length by 7.5cm width. The little hominid, male or female, to whom the skull belonged had stood at least 1.1 - 1.2m. The age of the volcanic flow was the key to dating the fossil, and Heather spent considerable computer time gathering information while I searched my years of notes and books on the ages of the various volcanic sites of the south coast region. Finally, after a few days it became clear that this volcanic site was around the same age as others in the area, that is, it dated to the beginning of the Pliocene period, around 5 million years BP [Before Present]. I have often talked of finding what I called the Australian Skull of Skulls. Until something even older turns up this appears to be it! The geological age of the Mimosa Homo makes this little skull the oldest fossil hominid skull in the whole of Australasia. The race to which it belonged was an ancestral hominid; that is a race of beings still on their way towards evolving into Homo erectus. Unfortunately, my discovery will go unrecognised by a scientific establishment who continue to preach the nobody before the Aborgines and Out of Africa dogmas of our current politically correct history. Yet the story does not end there. As some readers will recall, back in 1969 I unearthed, from Miocene slate at a Mt Victoria location, a hominid left hand impression minus a thumb, and two incomplete hominid foot impressions. These fossils, of a small individual were covered by a volcanic ash deposit. Over the years I have on and off removed them from their container to show various people, including members of Blue Mountians UFO Research Club, but considered the remains too

Copyright Rex Gilroy 2005. It was just a few months ago on January 7th, that I discovered the protoHomo erectus ironstone mineralised skull, out on Narrow Neck Peninsula, Katoomba in base Pleistocene strata making it an undoubted 2 million year old fossil. This ancestor of Homo erectus has, however, been eclipsed yet again by another fossil discovery to cap anything I have previously uncovered in the way of skull-types of Homo erectus in Australia. While staying with our far south coast friends and field assistants, Anjie and Allan Westrip, on Monday 13th June we made a visist to the Mimosa National Park. I had left Heather and the Westrips while I climbed up a 60m or so high volcanic flow, now a hill of rubble. Upon climbing down I found the descent rather hairy so decided to change course and going west instead of south, worked my way down the slope of basalt rubble. The volcanic flow and its crater are covered in dense jungle, which made the climb down more awkward that when I climbed up. Had I not decided to climb down the way I did I would certainly not have made the big discovery that I was about to! Upon reaching the base, stumbling over a wide expanse of ancient volcanic ash turned to basalt rubble, I spotted a strangely-shaped grey basalt rock. Upon closer examination upon reaching the clearing I found it to be the mineralised volcanic ash endocast of a primitive hominid skull. It appeared to me that the skull had probably been covered by an ash flow which filled the cavity, preserving the interior, the bone eventually falling away. Great ages passed before the hardened ash decomposed into rubble, releasing the fossil. When I showed my find to the others, they too became excited. The fossil is however incomplete, the underside of the braincase area has lost some material and there is no mention of a lower jaw. There are two eye sockets with a narrow nasal passage in between. The left side of the skull is flattened due to some distortion in the early stages of burial when the soft bone material was subjected to a certain amount of pressure, and in more recent times, a shaving of skull dome has fallen away to give a flat appearance, even though the originally complete specimen

meagre to prove the presence of ancestral hominids in Miocene Australia. I still do, although now, together with the latest skull endocast find, they have assumed new importance. Our researches have turned up information on the dates of certain volcanic sites on the Blue Mountains, and the one that covered these tracks through time occurred 17 million years ago! In Africa our tree-dwelling ancestors only left their arboreal existence to adopt an upright stance on the ground around six and a half million years ago, which means ancestral hominids were already walking upright in Australia nine and a half million years before their African cousins! As the evidence seems to suggest, either a race of ancestral hominids had entered Australia some time before 17 million years ago, having already left the trees in south-east Asia, or else [and I have no proof as yet for this possibility], might at least one tree-dwelling form have entered Australia via the former Australia-Asia land shelf, moving from tree to tree as it were into this landmass, eventually to leave the trees here at some time prior to 17 million years ago? The Pleistocene period ended 10,000 years ago and dates back 2 million years, where it meets the end of the Pliocene period, which goes back 5 million years BP, before which is the Miocene period, which extends back 26 million years. Thus the Mt Victoria, Blue Mountains Miocene ancestral hominid dates well back towards the middle era of the Miocene period. An awesome picture indeed and a story that belongs to the forbidden archaeology so often scorned by university experts who refuse to accept any evidence which might upset long-accepted dogmatic teachings of our ancient past. What all these fossils demonstrate is that, Australia has an unwritten stone-age past that pre-dates Aboriginal arrival here, and certainly challenges the Out of Africa dogma of our modern human beginnings! --0

After this light display nothing more happened until, about 1am they were all woken from their sleeping bags by a humming sound, accoumpanying a bright, blue-glowing light that covered the whole clifftop area, as a large craft of some kind flew above them, as it descended into the Burragorang Valley, moving from north to south. As they all watched, the object crashed with the sound of a distant explosion into the north side of the above ridge. The two women and two men watched from their clifftop camp as flames appeared in the distance. They observed the fire with binoculars for a time, then returned to their sleeping bags. The next morning around 7am however, they spotted six military [camourflaged colours] helicopters appeared from over the south side of the ridge, and in an operation observed by Tracey and her friends lasting about 2 hours, thehelicopters appeared to remove the wreckage of the mystery craft on cables, flying each large piece over the ridge [presumably to the base]. There were probably a large number of people on the ground assisting with the removal of the wreckage, but we couldnt see anyone with our binoculars because of all the tree cover. Whatever it was it had certainly been a large craft., she said. --0 Unknown History of the

Tracey, together with three other campers from Sydney, were camped out on the far end of Narrow Neck Peninsula on Thursday 5th May 2005. She stated that, about 8pm that night they all spotted a number of bright silvery flashes coming from the top of the long ridge, behind which the top secret American Advanced Space Technology Research base is located.

Mysterious goings-on in the Burragorang Valley are nothing new and began well before the construction of Warragamba Dam after the end of World War 2, which saw the flooding of a good part of the valley, including the town of Burragorang itself. In 1940 the Australian Army High Command, in the face of the growing threat from Japan, in a top secret move, established numerous bases in strategic parts of the country, for the gathering of information and co-ordinating communications in the event of an invasion. Some of these secret bases took many forms, such as remote farm houses, suburban houses where the plain clothes

track to the top of Mt Solitary, which overlooks Jamieson Valley and Katoomba, but which also provided a high spot from which to receiv e messages in Sydney Harbour. This information was then flashed to submarines offshore. Sydney-based military intelligence personell had however learnt of the Mt solitary operation and the force of Jap. troops in Burragorang Valley, but had delayed acting in the hope of learning the identities of the Sydney spies. Hoever, on the night of 31st May 1942 the famous raid of the three midget submarines on Sydney Harbour took place, the crews acting on information from the Mt solitary radio group. This incident forced the Australian military to launch an attack on the Japanese Burragorang/Mt Solitary operations. In a fierce gun battle the Jap. marines were reportedly wiped out, while another unit of Australian troops surprised the six radio operators on Mt solitary, shoting them on the spot and smashing their equipment. They buried the bodies somewhere nearby, nobody knows where to this day. Yet mystery surrounds the large force of marines. Why were so many dispatched for an operation requiring only six on top of Mt solitary? Presumably all were to have been picked up on some future night by another submarine on the coast. Among the store of food and ammunition were packs of concentrated high explosives. Mystery also surrounds the skeleton of a Japanese soldier with rotting uniform and rifle at its side, found one day in 1960 by a local scoutmaster on a lone hike, when he sheltered from rain inside a remote Cedar Valley rock overhang. The location has died with this man who was known to the author. The question is: were the Jap. Marines on a mission to seek out and blow up the Burragorang base? Perhaps we may never know the answer to this mystery, the events of which took place over 63 years ago. ***** Immediately following the end of the Second World War the Cold War began as Communism began its spread across Europe and into Asia. In a top secret agreement between Australian Government and military

occupants attracted no attention, even a residence in a prestigeous part of Sydneys North Shore. Yet more amibitious bases are said to have been undertaken in remote mountainous areas, including the Blue Mountains, which even today continues to give up its secrets of those dark days. The most closely-guarded of these wartime secret bases was established deep in the Burragorang Valley. Access to this base was via a dirt road whose entrance was said to be south of Kanangra Boyd National Park. The entrance to this road was heavily camourflaged and guarded by hand-picked troops, the road itself being covered overhead by camourflage nettings as it wound its way through dense forests into a deep gully to the base, which was constructed deep into a mountainside. According to old soldiers this base served other purposes than mere communications, for actual strategic discussions were held here by Australian Top Brass, and it is rumoured that a top American General [surely Douglas MacArthur] had visited this facility at the height of the immediate threat to our north. So secret was this base and its purpose that ordinary and unorthorised personell and aircraft were forbidden entry to the area, and it is rumoured that an Australian aircraft carrying military personell heading west on matters unrelated to the base, [of which they are believed to have had no knowledge], were shot down by anti-aircraft gunfire when the plane chanced to fly on a course directly over the base area one day in 1943! There is also another, still largely unknown incident of those time too lengthy to relate in its entirety here, which suggests that Japanese Military Intelligence somehow obtained information of the existence of the Burragorang Base. A large mother submarine was dispatched with at least 60 marines from a captured New Guinea port and subsequently landed the troops, along with six specially chosen soldiers, at the head of the Shoalhaven River at Nowra under cover of darkness, where they were met by local Asian fishermen. Here they were provided with guides and taken inland via an old hiking track to a point south of Burragorang township. Here the marines established a camp, while the six special troops with radio equipment were taken around the towns outskirts and up a hiking

officials, the American military moved into and expanded the Burragorang Base, for the secret development of Atomic weapons, and before long nuclear bomb and missile technology. It was a time of mysterious disappearances of campers in that valley, and in 1953 there was the mysterious disappearance of three soldiers who entered the Burragorang Valley on some special unrelated operation. Today the Water Board supposedly controls this entire region and continues to discourage hikers and campers from sneaking into this wilderness. Atomic research is said to have been speeded up by the advent of the Korean War and the spread of Asian Communism. The descent of the Iron Curtain upon Eastern Europe also worried the Americans, so that the Burragorang and other bases like it that began springing up in other countries, assumed major importance, particularly once the Russians acquired the Atom Bomb. The CIA and FBI had also established secret operations in Australia, with agents in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Canberra, whose work concerned not only regular contacts with the Base but also other top secret intelligience matters in Australia. Also, Australian scientists and our military have a part to play in these operations, as we already know. ***** At some stage during the 1960s, it appears that the Burragorang Base became one of three on the Blue Mountains, the other two being established in the Wollemi and Glen Davis wilderness areas. With this development there appears to have been a change of research direction, towards what has become obvious is a highly advanced space exploration and communication technology far beyond anything officially known on the planet at present. This work now includes NASA and SETI and the rumour is that, at some stage contact has been established with some super civilisation in the cosmos which is passing on technological imformation in the form of a mathematical language, which just about every Australian UFOlogist knows from my investigations of the Burragorang, Wollemi and Glen Davis facilities together with our Blue Mountains UFO Research Clubs top secret research team. Perhaps the development of this highly advanced space exploration

At the Clubs June meeting, held on Sunday 19th instead of the Saturday, a Skywatach was held out at our new and exciting venue - a clifftop overlooking Cedar/Burragorang Valleys. A group of us braved the cold to watch the burragorang in the wake of further recent developments there. We were not disappointed, as besides spotting eight bright silvery light flashes coming from the Base area, there was a sudden brilliant, silvery flash and a bright glow from the far side of the Burrgorang Valley, which gave the appearance of a giant neon light tube at least 2 kilometres in length. The glow quickly faded, leaving us all wondering what it was. Heather and I attended the latest UFO Research NSW meeting on Saturday 2nd July at which I gave a slide presentation on An Update of the Blue Mountains Secret American Advanced Space Technology Base, during which I spoke of this incident. carrying 20 men and women had a central mast and single square rigged cotton sail, cooking facilities, and shelter for supplies and occupants. There are old accounts of even larger rafts capable of carrying from 50 to 100 and more men, women and children. The average sized peruvian raft was the inspiration for the design of Thor Heyerdahls Kon Tiki raft, which carried him and fellow explorers from Callao, Peru across the Pacific on the Humboldt Current, to run aground on Raroia Reef in the Tuamotu Archipelago, after a three month voyage. The La Balsas expedition, in the rafts Guayaquil, Mooloolaba and Atzlan [modelled on those once used by Ecuadorian Indians], sailed a distance of 900 miles in 178 days. After reaching the Galapagos Islands on June 10th they were in the mid-Pacific by July 13th. Their first sight of land was Samoa on 12th September to reach Vanuatu on October 11th. After reaching Saumarez Reef on October 28th they found themsleves off Mooloolaba, Queensland. They were unable to land here due to the strong southerly current which carried them down the coast. Finally the Royal Australian Navy landing craft HMAS Labuan, towed Mooloolaba and Atzlan into the Richmond River to land at Ballina. Meanwhile Guayaquil was too waterlogged to take the strain of being towed and was abandoned, eventually drifting to Newcastle where it was later destroyed by vandals who set fire to it. These events proved the likelyhood of far earlier voyages from the Americas having reached Australias east coast. ***** Thanks to the 16th century Spanish Chronicler, Juan de Sarmiento, who arrived in Peru in 1595 [after he wrote a history of the Inca for Philip the 3rd], we have an account of the great cross-Pacific expedition of Inca Tupac Yupanqui [14481482]. Sarmiento had already reported the consistent Inca claims that there were islands far across the Pacific Ocean. He afterwards persuaded the governor of Peru to dispatch an expedition, to follow up the old Indian directions. Sarmiento gathered his information on the Inca Tupac expedition after consulting forfty-two leading Inca historians. His findings showed that, some

Yet although the mass of evidence for pre-Columbian contacts seems indisputable, little has ever been written about the voyages of the Amerindians themselves, chiefly cross-Pacific voyages on huge wooden single-sailed rafts. Two famous voyages in modern times have proven that such expeditions were possible, namely that of the late Thor Heyerdahl in hisKon Tiki balsa raft [1948] and Vital Alasars La Balsas [1973]. Peruvian polished stone adzes were uncovered from beneath a huge stone slab by a farmer on his Campbelltown property close to the Georges River. Other Amerindians reached our shores. In 1968 cave art found on Cape York was discovered to be identical to other examples in British Guinea, South America. South of the mainland, mystery rock engravings similar to others found in Peru, have been discovered on Tasmanias west coast, at Mt Ruffus near Queenstown. Similar rock art has also been reported from locations in New Zealands North Island. ***** During September 1973, Mrs Josephine Jacoby of Sydney NSW was on a bus tour of Central Australia. While on a roadside near Alice Springs photographing scenery, she found a small, oddly shaped basalt-type rock about 4cm tall exposed on nearby ground. Picking it up, she found it to be a crudely carved figurine. It was later identified as a Tiahuanacan fertility god! How had this relic come to be in such a remote and desolate place? Had Aborigines once obtained it from Peruvian visitors on the Arnhem Land coast and carried it inland? Or, had it been lost by Peruvians who had themselves penetrated the Red Centre, presumably via the former inland sea which connected the Alice SpringsAyers Rock region with the Gulf of Carpentaria at that time? Similarly, outside Alice Springs in the Haarts Range, in 1974, people exploring a valley found several 5cm tall baked pottery Peruvian figurines erected upright, projecting from the soil of a rock shelter floor. Interestingly, the local Aborigines once practiced crancial trepanation, using the same techniques of the ancient Peruvians. A Sun-Worship festival, or corroboree, the Inti-Raimi, is celebrated by a dozen Aboriginal tribes totalling hundreds of people, every June 24th, from Arnhem Land to Ayers Rock, or Uluru as the tribespeople call it. The work Inti-raimi is of particular interest, for the first half, Inti is ancient Peruvian for Sun and was the name of the Inca Sun-God. In fact, every June 24th throughout Peru, just as their ancestors of Inca times had done, the Peruvians continue to gather to celebrate the Inti-Chima fiesta, or Fiesta

time prior to 1482, Inca Tupac Yupanqui, having learnt from traders at his Cuzco palace [who had just arrived from the west], that there were populated islands far across the Pacific, ordered an immense number of balsa rafts to be constructed, in which he embarked at the head of 20,000 chosen men in search of riches. After about a year he returned to Cuzco with much booty and black people from the islands he had visited. Inca Tupac said he had visited many islands far across the ocean, and that there were two golden islands of great size, which sound like North and South Island New Zealand; or perhaps New Guinea and Australia. Certainly the Incas preserved tales of a great continent far to the west. They called the Pacific Ocean Hatun-Cocha or Great Lake. To reach our part of the world, the ancient Amerindian mariners would sail northwards on the Peru Current, which then becomes the South Equatorial Counter Current. In the Melanesian Islands this separates, that current flowing north-westward to flow along the north New Guinea coast before turning east to become the Equatorial Counter Current; the other flows onto the Australian east coast near Brisbane, to run down the New South Wales coastline to the Sydney area, before turning eastwards and then up the west coast of New Zealands South and North Islands, before rounding the top of North Island to re-join the Peru Current. Any Amerindian mariners who followed the Peru Current [a cold current before it becomes the South Equatorial Warm Current], could conceivably touch on islands such as the Marquesas, Society and Cook groups, even Samoa and others up to the Gilberts. Penetrating New Guinea waters the explorers could have entered the myriad of islands that lay before New Guineas east coast, or reached the north coast before the South Equatorial Current becomes the Equatorial Counter current. Those who sailed the South Equatorial Current to Cape York, could have reached locations from Cooktown down to Cairns. Others could have landed on the northern New South Wales coast, or further south near Sydney, or even the south coast inlets; thus explaining a Peruvian style cave painting near Cronulla south of Sydney. Land. The implications are that we are dealing with an expedition consisting of thousands of people like the Inca Tupac fleet described earlier. Thus Amerindian landfalls here might not always have been casual occurrences by small numbers of mariners. The translation reads as follows: Now here is a record of the Hakuta warrior people of the Scorpion clan who gave an account of a journey they made over the ocean river, sailing west then south, to reach the paradise land of Culhuacan. Some among them said with our allies the Nagui Clan let us sail across the ocean, beyond the Lands of Fire* where heat is created. So they sailed west in a great number across the ocean. And they came to the lands of fire. Then they said among them Let us sail on to the Land of the Western Horizon across the ocean, to the Land of Culhuacan. It is ruled by the snake God Can. Their ruler was Kui, and he bade them to settle these lands of fire. Then they said among them, Let us sail to the Land of the Western Horizon, across the ocean, to the Paradise Land of Culhuacan that lay beneath the Sun. So they sailed on and reached this land, and they came upon the great red rock that lay at the centre of all life, and fought a battle with people who threw spears with the aid of sticks at them and carried shields and clubs of wood. The battle was hard and men were buried in mounds at the great red rock which was the centre of all life.** Here they left a chronicle of themselves**. Some said, Let us return home that we may tell others of our new

dedicated to the birth of the Sun-God, Inti! The Aboriginal raimi and Peruvian chima second half of the words mean festival. Surely this is certain evidence of long-term colonisation hereabouts by ancient Peruvians. The Peruvian civilisation dated from some time after 1370 to 1532 when it was subsequently destroyed by the Spanish conquistadores of Francisco Pizarro. ***** Yet what of other Amerindian peoples who have left their calling cards here? To cover every Amerindian culture that might have reached our shores is beyond the scope of this article. However, it is a point of interest that, not only the Peruvians, but the Aztecs and Mayans and even certain north American Indian tribes, from pre-European times, were all aware of the Great West Land, or the Lost Paradise of the West, known by a variety of names, and which besides being the meeting place of all nations, there stood at its centre a great red rock, called by them the Navel of the World. The Aztecs, established their empire around 1200AD throughout Central Mexico. Their height was reached under Montezuma the 2nd between 1502-1520, before their destruction by the Spanish Conquistadores under Hernan Cortes in 1519-1521. Aztec chronicles describe the great red rock standing at the centre of the lost Psaradise of Culhuacan, where mankind first arose. They believed this monlith was guarded by a giant serpent that lived beneath it. Culhuacan meant Serpent beneath the rock, and Uluru meant the same to the Aborigines, as well as People from Uru, in reference to the earlier lost Australian megalithic civilisation, which as my previous articles have pointed out, made voyages across the Pacific to the Americas, which could explain Amerindian knowledge of our continent. Preserved in Mexico City is an ancient Aztec map, depicting the Pacific Ocean as a great river, leading to an island, at the centre of which stands a great red rock. The picture writing upon this map has been translated, and tells of an apparent migratory expedition here that occurred some time around the 1300s. The translation may describe New Zealand where many of the colonists settled, after which many sailed on to the Great West

land, and some journeyed home where their exploits were chronicled, and others sailed there also. [*Lands of Fire, probably New Zealand, or referring to hot climaticonditions. **the great red rock, obviously Ayers Rock [aka Uluru]. ***** Lately I have written about the Mayan colony found by Heather and I in the Cookktown district, with other sites at Atherton and Cairns, and another possible area north of Brisbane. The Cooktown site consists of a crumbling wall and piles of rubble which might be the remains of a temple, because it was here that an image of the Mayan Rain God, Chac Mool was recovered, along with two images of Kan, the Maise God, among others. Two pyramid structures, perhaps ceremonial temples, lie beyond a swamp in an awkward to-get-at situation, but as time goes on and we are able to return here, more evidence has to turn up. It is however, becoming obvious that this colony was established by a massive number of Mayan people. Beginning around 2000BC in Southern Mexico, Guatemala and Belize, their golden age was reached around 250AD and lasted until 900AD, during which, as their written language shows, they developed an astronomical science and sophisticated mathematics second to none. It was during this period that their great raft expeditions carried their explorercolonists across the Pacific, obviously into Australian waters. The exploits of the Amerindian peoples in their cross-Pacific explorations will be one of the subjects of another Gilroy book in the not too distant future. --0--

attempted to steal my theories and even specimen material. Geoff Rense said that I am a giant among Australian unexplained researchers, praising my immense volume of published works over the years, and my lifetimes achievement as a leading Australian UFOlogist. I was interviewed on the Hawkesbury River plesiosaur sightings, the extinct giant monitor lizard, Megalania prisca; the large Australian marsupial cats, and besides my Yowie and pre-Aboriginal fossil evidence, my research I had the opportunity to speak on the recent 5 million year old ancestral hominid skull endocast reported on in full in this newsletter. We spoke about Australias Lost Civilisation of Uru, evidence of ancient Egyptian, Phoenician, Chinese and other pre-cook discoverers of Australia, and the many pyramids and other structures coming to light here through the Gilroys fieldwork. In all it was a fantastic opportunity to reveal to a wide American audience all the hidden mysteries to be found in Australia, and I anticipate that it wont be the last time. What amazes me is that my work has been so highly regarded by American researchers of these mysteries for so long; a far cry from all the attacks from academics and jealous rivals I have received in Australia over the years. Yet even here I know I have a wide following, and while people appreciate what has for me been a lifetimes work, I shall continue to reveal the many hidden mysteries of this land. --0
