CEo, Kingdom of Bahrain egovernment authority Events like MEET ICT highlight the Role of Bahrain in the region of assisting ICT Capacity Building and bringing together top IT and ICT providers as well as renowned international leaders and experts from the field on one platform. Such an initiative follows the eGovernments mission in establishing a forum for various stakeholders in order to continuously share knowledge. The benefits of such an event are offered for citizens and Gulf state professionals as well as leaders to learn from global experiences of top notch experts. Moreover, it is to get involvement in many advanced ICT opportunities in the country and the region. It is an annual opportunity for visitors to connect to the existing ICT world under one roof. MEET ICT also falls under the eGovernments vision of being a leader, a facilitator and an enabler in the country. It is vital that we support it from start to end - and beyond. Therefore, as a strategic partner of the event, the eGovernment Authority will be actively involved in order to ensure that the event becomes a success and effectively meets its objectives. We look forward to your active participation!
steering Committee Chairman, mEET ICT Bahrain 2012 After two successful years, MEET ICT Bahrain is back in 2012. This time, as always it will spread its usual support to the MENA region for ICT Development and plus, it will go beyond by reaching out to the International Audience. This will not only help the delegates from the MENA region to share the experiences from their International Counterparts, but also let the International companies come and benefit from taking part in the ICT development in the region. The Bahrain ICT Suppliers Trade Association (BISTA) has always been a strong strategic partner to the development of ICT through the launch of initiatives that support such level of Experience Sharing, Learning and Networking. MEET ICT Bahrain, is one of these strategic initiatives that the Association will keep supporting and contributing to its success. BISTA is looking forward for the participation of MENA and International Organizations and Subject Experts in MEET ICT Bahrain 2012, and hoping that such opportunities will bring prosperity to all the participants in the event.

Bahrain is an Arabic word meaning Two Seas, and refers to two facts, that the islands contain two sources of water - sweet water springs and salty water in the surrounding seas, and that to the south and north, the waters of the Gulf separate it from the Arabian coast and Iran, respectively. Bahrain is a mature, well-established business hub with the largest financial institutions in the Gulf. With a modern business track record of nearly 40 years, Bahrain is still the financial services leader in the entire region. The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), the countrys single regulator, is unquestionably the regions best and most respected regulator. Countries in the Gulf look to Bahrain when formulating their own regulations and structures because of Bahrains tested, transparent and enforced rule of law. Bahrain provides a free, open and transparent environment for businesses and has a globally competitive, value-creation story which focuses on sustainability, skills and good governance. A growing demand for ICT products and services is a natural consequence of strong growth in other sectors. Financial services, construction, retail, manufacturing and the energy industry all need more and more ICT support, products and systems integration. Significant investment has already been undertaken to provide a highly-developed technology infrastructure. Bahrain is linked to the rest of the region by the Fibre Optic Gulf cable and the high- tech FLAG Falcon cable system.
