ROYAL ARMOURIES PROJECT

1. Black Background, smoke fades in and appears on screen. Voiceover Buried deep beneath the earth's crust, a great journey is about to begin. Now watch closely as the story unfolds...

1.

2. 2. MUSIC STARTS. Black Background cracks, revealing the cave's core, the shadow of a man is stood over the crack, he leans back and pushes his hand into the crack having the screen turn black once again. 3. 3. The screen zooms out showing a man pushing the minecart, while pushing it the screen follows the minecart as he passes other people mining. The screen then pans upwards as it shows different levels of the mineshaft, and all its tunnels. Voiceover The tunnel is vast and long. Iron Ore is pushed far through the mineshaft, until finally, its destination is reached. As he reaches the top of the mineshaft the camera zooms into the man as opens the furnace door. 4. 4. The screen is dark until a light appears showing an open door with a man pouring the ore into the furnace. The screen is then engulfed with fire and smoke. Voiceover Iron and Carbon is added to the blast furnace. Once the door is closed, searing heat combines the ores into molten Steel. 5. 5. The smoke morphs itself into liquid metal, which crashes down into a mould off stage. Hissing can be heard as the metal is rapidly cooled to form an ingot.

Voiceover It is then poured into a mould, and rapidly cooled in water. After a few minutes, the mould is removed, and a Steel Ingot is revealed, ready to be shaped into a Helmet by the hands of the Smith. 6. 6. The metal bar is placed onto an anvil, when it is suddenly stricken by a hammer as it is crafted out to a basic shape. Sparks fly as the smith creates the first section of the mask. Voiceover Every strike is precise, every blow, a step closer to perfection. 7. 7. The first section of the Steel mask is lifted from the anvil and examined by the Smithy, who nods and places it back, ready to be struck again. As the Smith continues the work, the camera zooms out to show nothing but darkness around the workshop. Flashes of the sparks and the fires of the furnace is the only thing that lights the area. Voiceover Shaping armour as fine as this cannot be done quickly. The anvil will be used for hours to bend the steel into shape, the Smith working tirelessly into the night

8. 8. The smith can be seen dipping the helm into water. A hiss is heard as the metal cools, and then a close up shot of a work table is shown, where then helmet is then placed, facing the camera. Voiceover With the tournament helmet complete, it is now time to create the final piece of this great masterpiece. 9. The faceplate of the mask is seen shaped and twisted through dramatic close up shots and flashes of sparks. 9.

Voiceover Many hours are spent crafting details into the decorative faceplate. The gilding of the helmet will take patience, and time, but the resulting helmet will be remembered for years to come.

10. 10. The faceplate is placed on the front of the helmet, and smoke begins to cover the screen from the forge. The Helmet is slowly moved to centre stage, and the background breaks apart and fades away, leaving a dark, smoky background in which the Helmet is displayed. (rotating on the spot? Anthony?) Voiceover Gilded for parades, built for tournament combat, this helmet is a fine example of great craftsmanship, attention and skill, which will be worn by knights with honour and pride for many years to come.

Fades to black.
