Citrix Licensing Portal Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will the new design of the Citrix Licensing Portal be available? A: The newly redesign Licensing Portal will be available on November 6, 2011. Q: What is the Citrix Licensing Portal? A: The Citrix Licensing Portal is the My Citrix online tool that allows you to view and manage your Citrix product licenses. Q: How do I access the Citrix Licensing Portal? A: The Citrix licensing Portal can be accessed via My Citrix by selecting Manage Licenses from the Choose a Toolbox dropdown.

Q: What changes have been made to the Citrix Licensing Portal? A: The new Citrix Licensing Portal is intended to improve our customers overall licensing experience with: Totally redesigned web pages that are more intuitive to navigate and easier to use Powerful new functionality such as archiving, advanced search, easy exporting, and more Quick links to the user guide, licensing technology documentation and How-to" videos Q: How do I take advantage of the new Citrix Licensing Portal? A: Customers using license server 11.5 or above can take advantage of the new Licensing Portal benefits immediately after they log in. Q: I use license server 11.3 or older, what do I need to do to continue working with the new Citrix Licensing Portal? A: License files generated out of the new portal for renewed licenses will not work on the older versions of the license server. What do customers need to do? Customers have two options as listed below. Citrix highly recommends the first option as customers should always be on the latest version of the Citrix License Server. 1. Upgrade to the latest version of the Citrix License Server. OR 2. Follow these workaround instructions: a. Log on to MyCitrix. b. Renew your licenses as normal and wait to receive your order confirmation email. (NOTE: Do not use the link provided in the order confirmation email as it will not work on the older license server.) c. From MyCitrix, navigate to the Manage Licenses toolbox. d. Select Reallocate. e. Choose the license(s) that you just renewed and hit <continue>. f. Do not change any information on the configure step. Just hit <continue> (you are essentially reallocating this license to the same license server). g. Hit <continue> again on the confirmation step. h. You will get a confirmation that your Reallocation was successful. Select OK to download the new license file. i. Proceed as normal to save the license file and then install on your license server.

Note: This work around must be performed every time a license is renewed after November 6, 2011, as long as you are still utilizing an older License Server.

When do customers need to take one of the above actions? Customers need to perform one of the above actions prior to installing a renewed license file that was generated after or on November 6, 2011. Again, Citrix always recommends that you are running the latest version of the License Server which can be upgraded at any time. Q: Where are my RE license files? A: The Renewal files, also known as RE licenses, are located under the Manage Licenses Toolbox > Redownload > Recently Renewed tab. Customers will no longer see RE license files or license codes. Instead, the original (base) license file has been updated with the new expiration date per the renewal. Simply download the license file from the Recently Renewed tab to obtain your latest license file. Q: Is training for the Citrix Licensing Portal available? A: Yes.
