PURPOSEisabuzzwordtoday,andtherearenumerousChristianandBusinesspublicationsaddressing thiscriticalissuefrommultipleperspectives.Theuseofthiswordhasincreasinglybecomepervasive, suchthatwenowreferenceitassomesortofautomatedmechanismthatonceacquiredanddeployed, makessuccessinevitable.Makenomistakeaboutthefactthatnotunderstandingthepurposeofathing eventuallyresultsinunderminingit,butIwouldlikeustoexploredeeperbeyondtherealmof purpose. Ammunitionandsophisticatedcombatequipment(suchaswarheadsandF18s)couldbekeptinsome militarybase,andtheirpurposeandapplicationscouldbewellunderstood(suchasforprotecting civilians,combatingcrime,trainingmilitarypersonnel,orevenentertainmentintheformofairshows).

Becausetheirpurposeiswellunderstood,theremaybenocaseofmisuse.Aradicallydifferentscenario isoneinwhichtheseitemsarestrategicallydeployedtocombatanddefeatenemyforcesinanactual warfront,inordertosecureorrecoverlostterritory,andsubjectsametotheirownsovereignlaws.Now thatsaclassicinstanceofwhatIwouldrefertoasAmmodeployedonAssignment! LetusrefertothedurationwithinwhichthiswarwasplannedandwagedasaCYCLE.Thinkofthis CYCLEasyourLIFETIME.Withoutintendingtoplaywithwords,Imconvincedthattheresadifference betweenYOURPURPOSE&YOURASSIGNMENT. Theresanepidemicofpurposefulpeoplewhoseemnottohaveaclueastowhattheirspecific Assignmententails.ThesubjectofPurposehasatendencytobeoccasionallyvague,butmakeno mistake,assignmentsarealwayshighlyspecific.Theresponsibilitylieswitheverymantotakethe initiative,andactivelyseektodiscoverandsubsequentlyexecutehisassignment. (abitofDigression) Thepurposeofattendingaformalarrangementcalledagraduateorbusinessschoolistolearn,but moreimportantly,learnhowtolearn.(Weoughttogotoschooltolearntheskillanddisciplineofhow tokeepourselvesrelevantandinformedthroughoutlife!Theprocessismoreimportantthanthe outcome.Istudiedcomputinginschool,butthatisntsufficientindicationthatIwouldrunasoftware firm.Theprocessoflearningcomputinginschoolhashelpedmeacquirethecriticalskillsanddiscipline ofapplyingmyselftoactionableknowledge.Ihavesinceleveragedtheseskillsindevelopingadditional competencies(informally)thatarenecessaryforexecutingmyassignment(innationalplanningand reformation,strategyandexecution).Thisprocesswouldcertainlyresultinmyattainingahigherlevelof effectivenessthanmanypersonsthatactuallystudiedtoacquirethesecompetenciesinformal

arrangements!Thisdoesnotunderminetheimportanceofformalarrangements,astheyarevery criticalforaggregating/harvestingknowledgeforhumandevelopment.) Thispublicationdoesntparticularlyaddresspurpose,passionorpreferences.However,alloftheseare primepointerstowhatthisarticleaddresses,whichisyourassignment! IvedecidedtolookbeyondPurposeinthispublication,forthepurposeofchartingnewfrontiersand developingaradicallydifferentperspectiveofapproachinglife.Thismessageisintendedtobelife transformingandatthesametime,lifeconstraining. Whenonemanrefusestoexecutehisassignment,theoftenresultisthatitismergedwithanother mansassignment,andthissecondmanautomaticallyreceivestherewardofexecutingthatassignment, inadditiontotherewardofexecutinghisownoriginalassignment. ThistruthisLifetransformingbecauseitoughttochangeourlivescompletely,andhelpuseffecta fundamentalshift.Itshouldpierceintotheverydepthsofoursoulsandcompletelychangeourviews andperspectivesaboutlife,assignmentsanddeath(inthatorderbecauseourassignmentsstartat birth,andendwithourtransitionintotherewardzone). Webuildourlivesuponfoundational/fundamentalperspectivesthatweform,andoccasionally reconstructoverourlifetimes.Theseconstructions,deconstructionsandreconstructionsare influencedbyamyriadoffactors,chiefofwhichistheenvironment,cultureandfamilyvalues. Yeshallknowthetruth,andthetruthshallsetthoufree! Thisdoesntsoundlikeanegotiation!Itscastindiamondstone.Thereistherightfoundation.Thereis thetruth.Thereistherightwaytodothings.Thereistherightwaytotrainachild.Thereistheright waytoleadacountry.Andthenwhatyouhaveleftiseverythingelsefakes! Thefactthatwewerebroughtupindifferentsocieties,withvaryingincomegroups,differentcultures withdifferenthistories,differentmethodsofgettingthingsdoneandevenstill,differentstandardsof measuringsuccess,thereremainsneverthelesstherightfoundationforeverything,irrespectiveofour circumstances. Therefore,wemustacceptthisfundamentaltruththatlifeisallaboutassignments,andthese assignmentscanonlybesuccessfullyexecutedontherightfoundation!Everythingelseaboutourlives mustrevolvearoundourAssignments. ItisLifeconstrainingbecauseeverythingissubjecttothetheoryofconstraints.Everything(exceptone) hasitsownboundaries.Eventhoughboundarieshavetheabilitytobeextendedandpushedout,they wouldalwaysremain.Therefore,lifeoughttobelivedinsuchawaythatlimitsittocertainboundaries, whichwhenviolatedwillspontaneouslyignitethelawofdiminishingreturns.

Letusrecognizethatourlimitedcognitiveandintuitiveabilitiesarethereasonsweinventedwhatwe callinfinitesimalquantities.Thefactthatwecannotmeasuresomequantitiesaccurately,orestimate thedimensionsofcertainelementsofnaturedoesnotmaketheseelementsinfinitefromthepointof viewoftheOriginalIntelligentDesigner.Wehumansaretheoneswhobyreasonofboundariesand limitations,lacktheabilitytomeasuretheseseeminglyimmeasurablequantities.Wemusttherefore recognizethatourAssignmentsarealwaysapplicablewithinspecifiedcontexts.Whenwestraybeyond ourallocatedlayouts,thatbasiclawofeconomics(diminishingreturns)setsin.Inafewwords,our assignmentsdemandthatwelimitourselvestotherelevantandmostcriticalthings.Allocatingour limitedresourcestononevalueaddingorconflictingactivitieswouldsignificantlycompromiseour abilitytoexecuteourassignments.
