A difficult recovery When a shepherd sin

Psalms 141 5 Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it. For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked. Proverbs 15 31 The ear that hears the rebukes of life Will abide among the wise. 32 He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding. Proverbs 17 10 Rebuke is more effective for a wise man Than a hundred blows on a fool. 2 Sam. 16: 7-14 Shimei Curses David 5 Now when King David came to Bahurim, there was a man from the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei the son of Gera, coming from there. He came out, cursing continuously as he came. 6 And he threw stones at David and at all the servants of King David. And all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. 7 Also Shimei said thus when he cursed: "Come out! Come out! You bloodthirsty man, you rogue! 8 The LORD has brought upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned; and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son. So now you are caught in your own evil, because you are a bloodthirsty man!" 9 Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, "Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please, let me go over and take off his head!" 10 But the king said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? So let him curse, because the LORD has said to him, 'Curse David.' Who then shall say, 'Why have you done so?' " 11 And David said to Abishai and all his servants, "See how my son who came from my own body seeks my life. How much more now may this Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse; for so the LORD has ordered him. 12 It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will repay me with good for his cursing this day." 13 And as David and his men went along the road, Shimei went along the hillside opposite him and cursed as he went, threw stones at him and kicked up dust. 14 Now the king and all the people who were with him became weary; so they refreshed themselves there. You shall in no way defend yourself when people curse and condemn what you have. You shall be humble and not try to cover your sin in anyway Your faithful friends and congregation shall not defend or make light of the sin committed, but rejoice over your repentant heart and brokenness before God, while hating the sin that was committed. The church should be grieving over this not trying to cover it.

Micah 7: 8-9 Israel's Confession and Comfort 8 Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The LORD will be a light to me. 9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD, Because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case And executes justice for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I will see His righteousness.
Bear the indignation of the Lord The word bear here means to abide under You art to abide under Gods indignation (righteous anger) until He pleads your case.

Micah 7: 18-19 18 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. 19 He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea. Psalm 51 (read the whole Psalm) 18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.
David recognized that the walls of Jerusalem has been broken because of his sin Zion represents the Body of Christ as a whole (universally) Jerusalem represents the flock that is under your care. It will take time to rebuild the walls (trust, sincerity, complete forgiveness)

Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11 For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter. 12 Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you. There should be evidence of sorrow and grieve not because your sin was exposed and you were now caught out, but because you have sinned against God and brought shame to Him and the church The fruit that such repentance produces are: Diligence in serving and seeking hard after God A clean conscience and a humble heart

Indignation against sin A fear that continually brings you to your knees in worship before God A Vehement (passionate) desire for the Lord and His sheep A Zeal to be even more bold for the truth and the God of the Truth Vindication, because God has forgiven you and has produced brokenness in your heart

2Cor 2: 3-11
Forgive the Offender 3 And I wrote this very thing to you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow over those from whom I ought to have joy, having confidence in you all that my joy is the joy of you all. 4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you. 5 But if anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me, but all of you to some extent --- not to be too severe. 6 This punishment which was inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man, 7 so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with too much sorrow. 8 Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love to him. 9 For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. 10 Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, 11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. As children of God we need to reaffirm our repentant brother and sister back into the family We need to reaffirm our love towards them and forgive them. We do this because we love them and because we are obedient to Christ who is the Head of this household. We should not allow the devil to take advantage of this situation. He will try to break this house down, so dont be ignorant of his devices.

It has been our decision to remove our brother from pulpit ministry outside of his congregation for the
period of six months (30 September2011 31 March 2012). He should however continue with discipleship and teaching bible school. He should make a public confession (confessing what he has done and apologize for the sorrow and shame he has caused) to all organizations, structures or denominations that he is currently involved with. This can be done by means of a letter to leaders that should be publicly read to those they lead or personal appearance. The church should support their pastor and sister during this difficult time and be watchful over their own hearts that they do not sin against God. For purposes of reflection and devotion and accountability Im instructing our brother and our sister to do studies on: Gods indignation against sin True Repentance A life of Brokenness Practical holiness
