We celebrated having read over 200 books in the month of October and are now well on our way toward Novembers goal of reading 225 books: as of Friday, November 9, the class has already nished 43 books. I will continue to donate 8 THB for each book nished; the class has decided to save the donation until they have read enough for a donation of 4,800 THB: a goat from Heifer International. Students are comparing and contrasting dierent types of nonction texts, synthesizing most important ideas in expository nonction, and collecting research as they prepare to write their own feature articles on a nonction topic about which they are passionate! Please ask your child about his or her feature article topic! Students created a terrarium on Wednesday, and after todays observation, realized that some environmental factors are causing mold to grow on some of their sprouts, but were nevertheless excited to see so much life has already sprouted in their mini-environments! Students have been creating and today shared their smart and analytical subtraction projects with each other, demonstrating their thorough understanding of numbers and comfort with using various strategies to subtract. They are adept at working with these very large numbers! Today we talked about what we all have in common. My favorite was that most of us love ice cream, followed closely behind the fact that we all love boks. :)
