Digital Video Planning Angela Reaves Standards: Standard 3Share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members

of our democratic society. Standard 4 Pursue personal and aesthetic growth Video Summary (1) The digital video will focus on 4th grade students and teachers. The purpose of this video is to motivate students to practice their fluency, work together, and instill a love of literature. It will present oral reading in a non-threatening way as readers rehearse their sections and are supported by a group.(2) The cultural background consists of seven Caucasian students, three African-American students, and five Asian students. (3) The majority of the students have met or exceeded the ISTEP. (4) Students will need prior experience on how to conduct readers theatre. We will briefly review the process but most of the students should have some familiarity it. (5) The heterogeneous group of learners has varying learning styles. Five of students have strong logical/mathematical and intrapersonal modalities. Only one student is strong in verbal/linguistic; three students are musical/rhythmic and four students are strong in interpersonal learning modality. Two students possess strong visual/spatial modality. Motivation (The ARCS Model) Attention: The audience (students) will view this video as interesting and worthy of their time because their classmates will be in it; the teachers will view this as worthy of their time to help with fluency with their readers. Relevance: The video will be meaningful as it will help students relate to literary elements they are already familiar with; it will show teachers what readers theater looks like and what their students are feeling before trying readers theater. Confidence: The video will give students the confidence to read aloud in front of an audience, read with expression, and to practice important fluency attributes. They will see themselves as entertainment for their audience. It will give teachers the confidence to conduct readers theater in their own classroom. Satisfaction: Students will intrinsic and extrinsic rewards once they see their finished product conducting their readers theater with their group; they will also see themselves providing delight to others. Teachers will gain satisfaction as they see their students become more fluent readers and cooperative group members. Objectives After viewing a video on readers theater, the students will perform the correct procedure for conducting a readers theater.
