Brief Bio
Name: J. Eric Lewis Birthdate: 05/26/1978 Background: Firstborn child of a now retired Navy man; I very much grew up in the halls of the church. Wife: Tiffany Anne Lewis Birthdate: 08/17/1987 Background: Firstborn child of entrenched Floridians; she was saved at fifteen years of age. Today her parents also serve the Lord! Ask about our Godorchestrated love story; it is amazing! Our Children: John Wesley Lewis was born on November 20, 2006, but in the sovereignty of God he never took a breath. We never had the privilege of knowing him, yet we miss him and look forward to meeting him on that day. Elisha Nabiy Lewis was born on July 21, 2008. The Lord has provided us with such joy through him. He is very loving and loads of fun. Our desire is that he would become a great New Testament version of his namesake.

SUMMER CAMP PREACHER Pastoral Philosophy

Ultimately the local church pastor is neither the highfalutin leader of a congregation, nor the workhorse of the people. Instead, he is the undershepherd of Christ charged by his Lord above with the task of preparing Gods people for their walk and work with the Savior. The primary duty the most important duty that a pastor can undertake is to instruct the people in the Word of God. All other responsibilities are far secondary.

Preached summer camp services to teenagers. Taught summer camp sessions to teenagers.

Reciprocal Questions for Candidating Church (in no particular order) #1: #2: #3: What do you expect from the pastors wife? What does a pastors work day look like in your minds? Please give a detailed answer: why did the previous two pastors leave this ministry?

Were they happy breaks? #4: Organizationally, how are members chosen? Who makes the final decision to accept or

reject and under what conditions? #5: When is the last time this church chose to make a major change in policy, format, or

structure? Did the process proceed relatively smoothly? #6: (If the church has a parsonage or issues a housing allowance) what rights do the

parishioners retain to the pastors family home? How has the privacy/sanctity of previous pastors homes been guarded? #7: What are this churchs ministry priorities (i.e. evangelistic, missions-oriented, focused on

children, etc)? #8: #9: #10: What is this churchs stance on the King James Version Bible? Other than straight evangelism, how does this church reach out to the community? (Related to #9) a stranger calls the church office looking for help with groceries or rent or

the cost of heating, how does this church typically respond? #11: #12: #13: #14: What relationship does this church have with the other churches in the general area? What style of worship does this church prefer? How open is it to diversifying? Answer each category separately. How are major and minor decisions made? Who decides what takes place specifically during service times?

#15:

It is an incredibly busy week for the pastor: there are 20 shut ins to visit, three nights of

special services in addition to regular services, a board meeting, a staff meeting, youth workers training, plus all the other behind the scenes stuff that always takes place. What should the pastor prioritize? What dare he not miss? #16: Sister So And So was terribly offended by the pastors wife and she is telling everybody

just what happened. The news gets back to the church board. What happens next? #17: Jimmy Disliked comes from a family that has caused problems for years. Jimmy loves

the Lord but tends to be unfairly lumped into the mold of his father simply because they are blood (and honestly because Jimmy is like the old man in certain unfavorable ways). Jimmy asks the pastor if there is any way that he can stay in the basement of the church for a few days till something works out. The pastor agrees but because of insurance liability says that it can be no more than two weeks most. How does the board receive this news? #18: #19: #20: How have communion services traditionally been handled? Is there a formal or informal dress code for attending? For ministering? If so, what is it? Annie loves the Lord with all her heart and desperately wants to sing with the worship

team. But Annie smokes (or is divorced or falls under some other situation which this church has come to find culturally offensive). Should the pastor let her sing anyway? What is the reaction if he does? #21: Annie sews an afghan that she hopes the church can somehow use to raise money for

foreign missions. During the board meeting someone suggests that the church hold a raffle for the afghan and disburse the proceeds to one of the missionaries which the church supports. The pastor agrees and by doing so immediately offends a long time deacon. In this mans mind raffles are sin. The board and pastor are all deeply in sin for approving such a suggestion. The

offended deacon eventually leaves the church over this issue (despite the fact that the raffle never actually happened). He spends his days telling everyone how terrible the pastor of that church is. List all the things that are wrong with this situation and explain why.
