1. What is systems analysis and design? System analysis and design focus on systems, processes and technology.

Systems analysis and design refers to the process of examining the business needs of an organization with the intention of improving it through better information systems. It relates to shaping organizations, improving its performance and emphasizes its primary goal of creating value for the organization or in simple words, to increase profits. 2. What do you think is the purpose or reason of including this in your course? Perennial advances in technology makes it hard for people to catch up to the fast changing times and as an Accountancy student, we are also in need to adapt to these changes and one thing that helps us so in our duty is the study of systems analysis and design. With this subject, we would be able to enhance our knowledge and expand opportunities even in the field of information systems. It also provides us with many fundamental concepts and practical techniques that we may use someday to improve our understanding about our course. 3. What is the difference between the systems analyst and systems designer? Systems analyst differs in one way or another in the systems designer. The former plans a new business system or one that will replace or complement an existing system. But before this planning can be done, he must thoroughly understand the old system and determine how computers can best be used to make its operation more effective and this is where the systems analyst enters. The systems analyst, in contrast to the systems designer, gathers and interprets facts in the old system, diagnoses problems, and uses this information to recommend improvements to the system. While the systems analyst focuses on the old system, the systems designer on the other hand, focuses on the new one. Consider, for example, an operation of a department store. To better control its inventory and gain access to more up to date information about stock levels and reordering, the store may ask a system designer, to computerize its stockroom operations. Before one can design a system to capture data, update files, and produce reports, one needs to know more about the store operations. 4. Do you think systems analysis and design can help you in your course in Accountancy? If yes, in what way? If no, why? Personally, I believe that systems analysis and design can help us in our course in Accountancy, in such a manner that it would impart upon us more applicable knowledge, not merely in the field of Accountancy but also in the field of Computer systems. Aside from knowledge, it can also teach us experiences that maybe in a lifetime, wed be able to experience only in this subject. The last of all, systems analysis and design keeps us equipped and ready to whatever IS-related challenges that we may encounter someday when we get to exercise our profession.
