General Information:
Kenya is located in East Africa. Lying along the Indian Ocean to its southeast and at the equator, it is bordered by Somalia to the northeast, Ethiopia to the north, Sudan to the northwest, Uganda to the west and Tanzania to the south. It has a land area of 580,000 km2 and a population of nearly 39 million. The country is named after Mount Kenya, a significant landmark and Africa's 2nd highest mountain peak. DemographicsKenya's population has rapidly increased over the past several decades, and consequently it is relatively young, with 73% of Kenyans under 30. Over the past 80 years Kenya's population has grown from 2.9 to 37 million. Most Kenyans are bilingual in English and Map of Kenya Swahili, with a large percentage also speaking the mother tongue of their ethnic tribe. ClimateKenya enjoys a tropical climate. It is hot and humid at the coast, temperate inland and very dry in the north and northeast parts of the country.

Travel RequestsPrior to travelling to Kenya, make sure you have completed and submitted an Approved Travel Request Form. RequirementsPassports, visas, vaccinations, and return tickets are required for most international visitors. South African passports holders do not require a visa. Passports must be valid for 3 months from date of arrival, and must contain at least 2 to 3 blank pages for visas and other endorsements.
