Spiritual Growth Plan 1: Explanation Bible Reading: I desperately want to hear the voice of God and understand more fully what God has said through the Gospels. I have read the Gospels many times but I want to dig more intently into them and see exactly who Jesus was, what He did, and what He said. I will be using the youversion reading plan on my phone and ipad to accomplish this over the next couple of weeks. This is an area that I want to grow in. I tend to read and study from the same passage that I am teaching on Sundays as a lead teaching pastor but I have noticed that recently I am waining in personal application and at times I am finding myself reading and studying the scriptures simply because I have to teach and not simply to hear the voice of God. Making this a part of my spiritual growth plan is an effort to resolve this problem. My goal is to read completely through the gospels over the next couple of weeks by reading faithfully each day of the week. Journaling: I have heard the statement made, reading makes a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact man. This is something that I want to put to the text in my spiritual life. I tend to read quite a bit due to being able to read rather quickly. This is an advantage but can also be a weakness in that I often dont stop long enough to think through it, pray, and begin to think of ways to apply what I have read. Over the next couple of weeks I would like to begin to form the habit of writing down some ways to apply what I have read and areas that God is convicting me based upon what I have read. Prayer: This is the area that I am most excited about in my spiritual growth plan. I have a regular list of people that I am always praying for as well as a regular time where I just sit and spend time with my Heavenly Father. What I want to challenge myself in prayer is to do this several times a day and not just one specific time. Exercise:

This is the area in my spiritual growth plan that I am least excited about. I am a former college athlete but I certainly dont look like it. I hate working out but I know I need to. I need to take care of my body for the glory of God. My goal is to workout over the next couple of weeks at least three times a week for 60minutes. Nightly Reading: As stated before, reading makes a full man. In this particular area of my spiritual growth plan the purpose would be to read a minimum of 60 minutes each night before going to sleep. Currently I am reading all the material for my seminary classes as well a Vertical Church by James Macdonald, Take the Lid Off of Your Church by Tony Morgan, Unleash by Perry Noble, When I dont Desire God By John Piper, and Gospel Coach By Scott Thomas.
