2011 23rd November - BICI is published 23rd November - Abdulnabi Al Aqel killed after being run over by a police vehicle. DEATH 3rd December - Mass arrests take place against citizens particapting in Ashura processions. 7th December - Zahra Saleh killed after being hit in the head with a metal bar. Source of the weapon is contested, although numerous videos from the day show police ofcers throwing metal bars. DEATH 11th December - A 6-day-old baby dies after suffocating on tear gas. DEATH 15th December - Ali Al Qassab killed after being run over by police vehicle. DEATH 15th December - Activist Zeinab Alkhawaja arrested after demonstrating in the middle of Budaiya roundabout.

He is briey detained after.
8th January - Richard Sollom of Physicians for Human Rights is denied entry into Bahrain 13th January - Body of Yousif Mowali found dumped on a beach a few days after being arrested. An independent post-mortem showed signs of torture and forced drowning. DEATH TORTURE

17th February - Elderly man, Mansoor Salman Hasan dies, after tear gas red near into his home whilst sleeping. DEATH 25th February - Abda Hussain Isa dies after tear gas inhalation. DEATH 29th February - Habib Kadhim Almulla dies after tear gas is thrown into his home one week earlier. DEATH 3rd March - Sayed Jaffar Al Alawi dies after spending a year in a coma, following brutal beating on 15th February 2011 at the hands of police ofcers. DEATH 5th March - 6 week baby dies from increased blood acids. Father says Mother suffocated numerous times during pregnancy from tear gas. DEATH

6th March - Sukaina Ali Marhoon dies in hospital, month after being admitted for respiratory problems from tear gas. DEATH 9th March - Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators take to the streets in what is described as the biggest protest in Bahrains history, to afrm peoples commitment to democracy.
10th March - Fadhel Al Obaidi dies after being shot at directly in the head with a tear gas canister. DEATH
17th March - Opposition societies say Jaffar Jassim Rahdi dies after sustained tear gassing in his home during the night. DEATH 18th March - Sabri Mahfoodh dies after inhaling tear gas. DEATH 24th March - Ahmed Abdulnabi dies after tear gas is shot into his bedroom. He suffered from vomiting and chest pains for 2 days before collapsing and dying. DEATH
31st March - Ahmed Ishmael, citizen journalist, killed by thugs with live ammunition, whilst lming a protest. DEATH

20th April - Bahrain Grand Prix begins amidst international outcry. Thousands protest along Budaiya highway during the event. 21st April - Salah Abbas found dead after being tortured by riot police, Body discovered with many signs of torture. DEATH TORTURE
6th May - Nabeel Rajab arrested and held for 3 weeks in detention 11th May - Mass protest, under the banner We will not surrender. 15th May - 11 year old boy arrested and held for one month 18th May - Tens of thousands take to the streets to protest against proposed GCC Union between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. 21st May - Bahrain comes under heavy scrutiny at United Nations Human Rights Council with many member states, including US and UK criticizing Bahrains human rights record. 24th May - Abdulhadi Alkhawaja appears in court in a wheelchair and testies that he was tortured whilst in prison. TORTURE 26th May - Minister of Interior threatens legal action against civil society participants at the UN Human Rights Council. 6th June - Nabeel Rajab arrested again - this time detained for 2 weeks. 8th June - Mass opposition rally along Budaiya Highway attacked with tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades.

10th June - Home of Sheikh Ali Salman is targeted, with security forces destroying CCTV cameras.
13th June - 5-year-old boy injured after getting shot in the eye whilst selling sh with his Father on the side of a road. He subsequently lost his left eye.
13th June - Peaceful protest planned by opposition societies banned. 13th June - King visits military and threatens those who criticise the military in a direct reference to speech made a day earlier by Sheikh Ali Salman. 14th June - Resigned Al Wefaq MP, Sayed Hadi Almusawi, called into questioning by Ministry of Interior. He is accused of criticising the ministry in a press conference a few weeks earlier. 15th June - Authorities ban protest called by opposition societies. Security forces forcibly attack those attending, arrest 21-year-old Zahra Al Sheikh. Family claims she was beaten and assaulted during 1 month detention.

22nd June - Security forces shoot directly at Sheikh Ali Salman and other opposition leaders as they gather for protest. Ali Almuwali critically injured after being shot in the head trying to protect Sheikh Ali.
30th June - Opposition protest on Budaiya Road banned 6th July - Another opposition protest banned. Opposition describe the recent situation as unannounced state of emergency. 9th July - Nabeel Rajab arrested by masked gunmen and sentenced to 3 months in prison relating to a tweet.
9th July - Opposition party Amal dissolved and outlawed. 13th July - Proposed 10 opposition rallies are banned and attacked by police. A woman is attacked whilst showering during a raid on her house. 20th July - Opposition calls for 25 rallies across Bahrain, massive militarisation of streets stops them from happening. 21st July - Retired Colonel Mohammed Al Zayani is arrested for expressing his opinion. 22nd July - Political detainee in dry dock prison complains of being beaten. 31st July - Gunmen open re on civilians in Salmabad. 3rd August - Leading opposition female activist Ahlam Al Kuzaie arrested at airport on the way to human rights conference in Tunisia. On the same day a pregnant woman is injured in a home raid in Sanad. 7th August - Minister of Justice invites individual societies for meetings. 8th August - Al Wefaq issues statement criticising the meetings and claiming they are not dialogue. 15th August - Said Yousif Almuhafdah arrested and released a few hours later. 16th August - Nabeel Rajab sentenced to 3 years in prison. 17th August - 16-year-old Hussam Al-Haddad killed by police during protest at the end of Ramadhan. 4th September - Sentenced against 13 opposition activists upheld, drawing widespread condemnation from international community. 7th September - Protesters defy ban to march on Manama - attacked with tear gas. 9th September - Minister of Justice says Al Wefaq working against the country 17th September - 7 police ofcers go on trial for torture and mistreatment. 19th September - Bahrain tells UN Human Rights Council it will implement recommendations of Universal Periodic Review. 22nd September - 29 activists arrested for involvement in protests.

28th September - 17-year-old Ali Hussein Neema killed by police after being shot at from point blank range. Riot police suppress mourning marches. DEATH
1st October - Sentences against 9 medics upheld 2nd October - 24-year-old Mohammed Mushaima dies in prison from sickle cell complications. A few days earlier he had requested to be moved to hospital as condition worsening, but request denied by prison authorities. DEATH
2nd October - Charged medics detained from home and taken to prison, including Dr. Ali Alekry to serve 5 years sentence. 5th October - Peaceful protests attacked with water cannon

8th October - Appeal of Nabeel Rajab rejected 12th October - Peaceful protest in Manama suppressed by security forces. 13th October - Sheikh Ali Salman summoned by Ministry of Interior and questioned on his trip to Egypt. 14th October - King opens parliament, citing foreign interference in Bahrain. 18th October - Policeman killed in Aleker Village. 19th October - Aleker village besieged by security forces. Access in and out denied for rst few days and later limited. Mass arrests, house raids and more in 7 day long siege.
21st October - Sentences given to persecuted teachers Jalila Al Salman (6 months), Mahdi Abudeeb (5 years). 22nd October - 4 men arrested for criticising King on Twitter. 30th October - Bahrain takes decision to blanket ban all opposition protests. 2nd November - Online activist sentenced to 6 months for tweeting. 3rd November - Said Yousif Almuhafdah detained, released 10 days later. 6th November - 31 opposition gures have their citizenships revoked, including 2 former MPs, Jawad Fairouz and Jalal Fairouz. 7th November - Jalila Al Salman arrested to serve remainder of her 6 month sentence.
