Our AGM & Quarterly Meeting

Sunday 25th November - 12:30pm
Our AGM and Church Meeting will be held on Sunday week, 25th November at 12:30pm, after a shared lunch. David Hein has been renominated for his position on the Diaconate and there is one other vacancy for which we seek nominations. Your prayerful consideration would be appreciated. Please see Secretary Glenn Sobey for nomination forms or for more information. Completed forms must be handed to Glenn by next Sunday, 18th November. We will also be voting on the change to the constitution as outlined at the August meeting. AGM Reports, Agendas and Minutes will be available next Sunday.

Directory!
Our new contact directory has been a long time coming and will be out NEXT WEEK. Each copy will be labelled (one per family), as well as a copy in the foyer and downstairs. If you require more than one copy, please see Jolene. As with anything of this nature, it may already be out of date at time of print. If you see any errors, please advise Wilma Crouch (to note in the bulletin) and Jolene (to update the database) accordingly. Thank you for your patience in this updated version!

Temporary Changing of the Guard

Jolene is heading off on 6 months Maternity Leave, effective next Saturday 17th November. In the interim, Yvonne Simons will be preparing the rosters, managing your reminders, and collecting / distributing the mail as Jolene has been. A new email address has been set up for this arm of the administrative tasks: pbc.admin@bbr.com.au. Please make sure from this week that you address any roster queries direct to Yvonne personally, or via this new email address. Jolene will still manage the directory on a minimal basis.

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Col. 4:2

Celebrating Christmas with the Portland Citizens Brass Band

Friday 21st December - 7:30pm at Portland Baptist Church
Come and enjoy a traditional Christmas programme with music provided by the Portland Citizens Brass Band and Aquarelle singers, followed by supper downstairs. Invite friends and neighbours to come and enjoy a time of carol singing and music in a comfortable environment. As we hope to have plenty of outsiders along it would be very much appreciated if PBC regulars could bring a plate of supper to share afterwards. (There are about 25 band members). This is not intended as competition for the town carols, but another option for those who arent able to get to that event - and an extra opportunity for everyone to soak up the sounds of Christmas!

Thank you

for your wonderful support of Samaritans Purse Christmas Child project this year. Special thanks to Mark Hurkmans and Robyn Dalliston for their efforts in coordinating the whole Portland area, the Drop-Off Centre and final collection. Portland Baptist Church contributed a generous 82 shoeboxes, while the total for the Portland area was 385. Many thanks also to our Silver Threads ladies who have quietly created two large cartons of fillers this year - toys, clothing, various kinds of bags, pencil cases, hats etc. We praise God for his love reaching out to children, families and communities living in deprivation throughout the world and pray for his blessing for each one.
