Thereweretwotheater cinemasalongEscolta Lyric andCapitol.Bothhighclassmoviehousesbroughtthe glitz and glitter of Hollywood to Manila Lyric Theater glitzandglitterofHollywoodtoManila.LyricTheater wasanArtDecomasterpiecebyPabloAntonio while CapitolTheater wasdesignedbyJuanNakpil.Sadly,the g formerhasbeendemolishedwhilethelatterhaslong seizedoperation,abandonedfordecadesandisindire state. CapitolTheater stoodmajesticallyamidstitsdecaying anddilapidatedshell.Builtinthe1935,thisArtDeco jeweloncehadmountedonitsbalconyawallmuralby FilipinomodernistVitorio Edades.
