Sport Diploma

Year 5 Tag Tails Festival Today we our sports diploma class were sport leaders at a year 5 tag tails festival organised by Mr Gunning. We were separated into two groups, one group on each pitch. I was in a group of four (including me) we were all assigned different jobs to make sure the festival runs smoothly. Myself and Danny OCallaghan were officials on one side of the court and Alfie Banks & Jack Robinson were officials on the other side. It was our jobs to make sure the children knew the rules and were playing correctly and were not cheating. What I found great about my leadership was that I always provided motivation for both teams; this made the children more eager to play and also having fun! I even asked them were they enjoying themselves and they screamed YES! I was also working closely with the children discussing tack tics they could use to make the game more easier, this built a strong bond with me and them as they didnt feel intimidated by me as I was down to their level, (as Im tall I was knelt down whilst talking to them) My group worked exceptionally well together, we dedicated each other a certain role this can be collecting/counting tags, transferring groups from benches to court or from court to benches etc. Because we all had a role the games started much more quickly and children knew where to go. If we didnt have any roles we would look unorganised and it shows bad leadership. My leadership skills were good on the day and I learnt a range of new skills. I could improve on learning some childrens names; this is such a great advantage as it makes you look like a good listener and an understandable leader. The children and teacher will appreciated that you have the listen skills in remembering the childrens names. Overall, I enjoyed myself and the children did too, which is evidence that I am a good leader, there is some little improvements that can be made, but I covered all the main aspects in being/showing I have what it takes to be a good leader.
