Agenda Registration Welcome

Script Assalamu'alaikum and a very good morning. Honourable speakers, Professor Dr. Reiji Noda and Dr. Takuya Tsujiguchi from Gunma University Professor Dr. Siti Kartom Kamarudin, Head of the Micro Direct Fuel Cell Research Team of Fuel Cell Institute, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Dr. Shahbudin Masdar, Program Director for the 3rd Student Exchange Program 2012. Members of the University Distinguished guests, dear students, Ladies and Gentlemen; First of all, on behalf of Fuel Cell Institute, I would like to welcome our honourable speakers, Professor Dr. Reiji Noda and Dr. Takuya Tsujiguchi to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to all the participants of this Public Lecture.

Background MoU Activity

The student exchange program is one of the MoU activities that has been successfully held annually since the signing of MoU between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on the 23rd February 2009. It involves graduate students and lecturers from Fuel Cell Institute, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and from Gunma University. The first student exchange program was held in conjunction with the 3rd International Conference of Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Technology jointly organized by Fuel Cell Institute and BPPT Indonesia on the 20th-25th November 2011. 3 graduate students and 2 lecturers from Gunma University have participated in the program. For the second student exchange program, 3 students from Fuel Cell Institute were given an opportunity to visit Gunma University on 29th February 7th March 2012 with the added sponsorship from Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

This year, we are very happy to host 5 graduate students and 2 lecturers from Gunma University and as in previous years, student presentations and visits have been arranged. We hope that as the student exchange program progresses from year to year, both universities will be able to host the students for longer period of time to conduct collaborative research projects and sharing of knowledge during their stay. This public lecture is also part of the activities that have been organized for the whole week. 10.30 Our first speaker is Dr. Takuya Tsujiguchi. Dr. Takuya Tsujiguchi is a University Assistant Professor (with tenure) at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Gunma University. He holds a degree from the Kanazawa University (B.Eng, M. Eng and PhD in Engineering). Before joining the Gunma University, he held a position at Gunma University (as a post doctoral researcher). His main research interests include fuel cell technology, Chemical engineering, and Heat and Mass transfer. His research has been published in the Journal of Power Sources. I would like to invite Dr .Takuya Tsujiguchi. He will first introduce about Gunma University and Japan. His lecture is titled: Session II 5-10 min? Q&A session Direct liquid fuel cell and desiccant cooling system We have time for a Q&A session. I will allow 3 questions.

Thank you Dr .Takuya Tsujiguchi for your informative lecture. We will have a short break. I would like to invite everybody to have a light refreshment outside of this room. We will come back for the second lecture at 10.25 am. 10.00 Break

I would like to invite the participants to be seated as we will begin the program now. Our second speaker is Professor Dr. Reiji Noda. Professor Dr. Reiji Noda is an associate professor in graduate school of engineering, Gunma University, Japan, with a Ph. D degree in engineering from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan in 1997. Before joining Gunma University, he was with Tokyo University of Agriculture and technology (as assistant professor from 2002 to 2006), at Toyohashi University of Technology (as assistant professor from 1998 to 2002, and as post-doctoral fellow from 1997 to 1998). His research field is energy chemical engineering, especially energy conversion process developments of coal, biomass, and wastes. He is also interested in comprehensive subjects related to the above researches such as life cycle assessments of the technologies, development of measurement system of heavy metals from solid fuel combustion, and so on. I would like to invite Professor Dr. Reiji Noda to deliver his lecture titled: 9.00 5-10 min? 11.30 am Session I Q&A session End Thank you Professor Dr. Reiji Noda for your enlightening lecture. Ladies and gentlemen, weve reached the end of the Public Lecture. On behalf of Fuel Cell Institute UKM, I would like to record our appreciation to Professor Dr. Reiji Noda and Dr. Takuya Tsujiguchi for their excellent lectures. Thank you everyone. Assalamu'alaikum. Development of a Liquid Fuel Production Process for Locally-Generated Biomass There is time for the Q&A session. I will allow 3 questions.
