Abstract This document analyses the creation of the universe in six days, and explains that there is no contradiction whatsoever in Allahs Words the Quran.

Introduction

Surah Fussilat (41): 9-12 (9) Say: Is it that you deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? And do you join equals with Him? He is the Lord of [all] the Worlds. (10) He set on the [earth], mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measured therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with [the needs of] those who seek [Sustenance]. (11) Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been [as] smoke: He said to it and to the earth: Come together, willingly or unwillingly. They said: We do come [together], in willing obedience. (12) So He completed them as seven Firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each Heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower Heaven with lights, and [provided it] with guard. Such is the Decree of [Him] the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.1

Ostensibly, from these verses, a total of eight days - instead of six - was spent in creation.2 But, in Surah Yunus, verse 3 and other Surahs, the creation of the universe was in six days. A Brief Analysis of Aayah 9 to 12 of Surah Fussilat

The First Two Days: The creation of the earth and this universe.3 The First Four Days: From the commencement of the formation of the earth until the creation of living things and their sustenance, i.e. the earth, its landmarks, its treasures and its inhabitants and their sustenance.4 The Last Two Days: The formation of the seven Heavens, its responsibility, decoration and sentinel.5 The unseen world was created in this period.6

These Aayah (Verses) illustrate the timeline of each episode of the six days of creation.7

A Study of the Aayah of the Quran That Pertain to the Six-Day Creation

Surah Araf (7) Allah revealed,

Ayah 54:

Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the Heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne. Allah speaks of Himself in relation to His Throne in another Attribute Istawa (firmly established), but which marks the end of a six-day period of creation.

Surah Yunus (10) Allah said,

Ayah 3:

Verily your Lord is Allah, Who created the Heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the Throne, regulating and governing all things. There is no intercessor except after His Permission. This is Allah your Lord; Him therefore should you worship: will you not receive admonition? In addition to the action on the Throne, Allah mentioned running the affairs of His Creation. It is common knowledge that directives to subordinates are issued only after the presence of the latter. The most excellent instruction is, of course, to worship Allah.

Surah Hud (11) Allah said,

Ayah 7:

He is The One Who created the Heavens and the earth in six Days - and His Throne was over the waters - that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct. After mentioning His Action as The Creator, Allah provides an excellent description of The Kings Throne. His Majesty! He, further, explains worship in terms of the calibre of character, a means to perfect worship.

Surah Sajdah (32)

Ayah 4:

Allah is The One Who has created the Heavens and the earth, and all between them, in six Days, and is firmly established on the Throne [of Authority]: you have none, besides Him, to protect or intercede [for you]: will you not then receive admonition? This Ayah (Verse) emphatically declares that the creation of the Heavens along with the creation of their particulars and the creation of the earth along with its components took place in no more than six days. Again Istawa is mentioned along with the benefit of worship: protection.

Surah Qaf (50)

Ayah 38:

We created the Heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us. This Ayah supports the previous one, with the valid addition that Allah did not suffer any discomfort in the process. Hence, there was no reason for the prolongation of days of creation for more than six days. Weariness and rest are not Attributes of Allah and are negated for Him. Allah did not call off sick nor did He go on a lunch break to refresh. Allah did not require an extension of the deadline in order to complete the task. Indeed, there is nothing like unto Him.

Surah Hadid (57)

Ayah 4:

He is The One Who created the Heavens and the earth in six days, and is moreover firmly established on the Throne. He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from Heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you where ever you may be. And Allah sees well all that you do. Creation is described in terms of actions of the creatures of the Heavens and the earth, after the six-day period.

Conclusion: The creation of the universe occurred in precisely six days.
