25/11/12 It's the start of Advent. We'd love you to join us praying for this busy month and the people we'll meet. This advent we're looking at Advent Conspiracy, praying through the 4 values: Love all, Spend Less, Give more (presence) and Worship Fully. Today, let's be inspired by Jesus how he loves all people unconditionally. Pray for the churches in York as they prepare the Christmas that they would be able to welcome in many more people. Pray for the Besom team as they assess many new recipients, that they could show God's love to them. Pray for the Besom van as it goes out delivering furniture to many homes in York.

Often Christmas can be a Stressful time, emotionally & financially. This week we want to protect people through prayer. Pray for Besom Recipients who are worried about how they will get through Christmas. Pray for frontline professionals who refer people to the Besom for their increased workload at this time of year. Pray for Besom recipients struggling with debt and worried how they will afford Christmas. Pray for families who will be homeless this Christmas, living in the hostels in York. Pray for generous giving from the church, to make a difference to families and individuals in York.

Matt 1v23 ...and they shall call him Immanuel (which means God with us), Thank God that he is an incarnational God. That he gave up everything to come to the earth to save us in Jesus. Pray for Besom recipients meet Jesus this Christmas. Pray for the Besom team, that they would have a greater understanding of what it means to have God with us as they meet new recipients. Pray for reconciliation in families as they spend time together this Christmas. Pray for Besom givers who will give their time over the festive period to be a blessing to those in need.

This week is Hamper week. At the Besom we will be concentrating on organising and delivering these amazing gifts. Today is the last day for hampers to be given. Pray for the team as they sort through and match hampers to recipients. Pray for the logistics of delivering 100+ hampers to different homes in York this week. Thank God for the difference that the gift of food will be to those who are hungry in York. Pray for those out delivering today, that they are able to share true Christmas Joy with those who receive. Thank God for each of the hampers delivered to homes in York this week. This week is Christmas week. The Besom office is closed but we'd love you to keep praying & thanking God. Pray for new families spending their first Christmas together for the new couples and new babies. Happy Christmas. Thank God for those who are serving Christmas dinner to the homeless today. Boxing Day - the day traditionally when church collection boxes for the poor were opened & distributed. Pray for Christians doing this today. Pray for Peace on earth in the homes of each recipient, especially those who've lost a loved one in 2102. Thank God for the example of Jesus who humbly served and loved all people. As 2012 comes to a close, pray for those who've had a really hard year and are looking forward to a new start in 2013. Thank God for an amazing 2012. Thank him for every giver who has made a difference. Happy New Year! Thank God in anticipation of all he'll do in 2013 through the Besom in York. The Besom in York re-opens today. Pray for the team as they get going again. Pray for the Besom nationally & for the conference that will be hosted in York in March. Thank God for the first givers who will cross the Besom Bridge in 2013 to serve the poor.
