From Nevada State College, I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Bilingual Education. As a highly compassionate and approachable teaching professional, with over 10 years of some type of teaching experience, I am confident in my ability to become a valuable member of your teaching staff. My teaching experience began in high school in the Teacher Academy at Clark High program. I provided one-on-one peer mentoring for 80 minutes each afternoon for English Language Learners on the cusp of passing the reading proficiency exam. During the second half of my senior year, I did an internship at Elaine Wynn Elementary School teaching fifth graders four hours a day. I have subbed at many elementary and secondary schools; I long-term subbed a third grade class at Beckley Elementary School where I was personally requested by the assistant principal. I have just finished student teaching at Hollingsworth Elementary in a dual language kindergarten class. I was teaching at risk children which enable me to provide these students with a head start in mastering basic skills in both English and Spanish. I was challenged to be creative, nurturing, and most of all, patient. I developed and presented comprehensible and stimulating lesson plans that facilitated all learning styles. My goal is to foster and maintain an open, honest, communicative, and supportive classroom, in which each student feels secure, special, and appropriately challenged. I have worked in a variety of classroom settings. I have developed many valuable skills while teaching diverse groups of students. I am adept at individualizing the curriculum to meet each childs different needs and designing resourceful lesson plans that accommodate different learning abilities. I enjoy being creative and utilizing new ideas and approaches to improve the learning environment. I am a compassionate teacher, who remains sensitive to a child's unique needs, employs effective listening, integrates multicultural teaching, and offers positive encouragement and reinforcement to keep students focused and motivated. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic teacher who will make a positive contribution to your district.
