Installation and Configuration
After completing this lab, you will be able to:
Objectives  Learn about the installation and configuration options available in
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, such as installing a new farm,
configuring global workflow settings, configuring incoming e-mail,
administrative tasks, farm topology, provisioning new web applications and
configuring alternate forms based authentication.
Walk through the installation and configuration of Microsoft Office SharePoint
Scenario Server 2007.

Exercise 1
Office SharePoint Server 2007 Central Administration – The
Home Page

Scenario
This exercise will highlight the new layout of the Central Administrator site and the new configuration options that
are available.

Tasks Detailed Steps


Complete the following 2 Note: The Central Administration page in Office SharePoint Server 2007 is in its own
tasks on: site collection. The site has full Windows SharePoint Services functionality. It may
house documents in a document library, or have its own lists, events and RSS feeds.
Note: The Central Administration site has 3 major actions available; the first part of

this exercise will look at the Home section of the Central Administration.
1. Administrative Tasks
Note: The Home tab contains the Administrative Tasks list; this list is populated with
the tasks that have to be completed to allow Office SharePoint Server 2007 to be fully
functional.
Note: An administrative task consists of a few major components
• Action: This is a link to the administrative action to be taken
• Description: This is a general description of the purpose of the task.
• Associated Service: This is a categorization of the Farm service associated with
this task.
Note: Login using the following credentials:
• Username: administrator
• Password: pass@word1
• Log on to: LITWAREINC
a. Open the Central Administration page. If this is not already open, use the Start
 Administrative Tools  SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration link.
b. Click on the Initial Deployment: Add Servers to Farm task and the
Administrative Tasks display form will appear.

c. Click Close to return to the Home page.


2. Farm Topology Note: The Home tab also contains the Farm Topology Web Part which lists all the
servers in the SharePoint farm and the services running on each.

a. Click on the server name listed in the Farm Topology list and the Services on
Server page will appear.
b. The Services on Server page allows you to start and stop services on the servers in
the farm from one central location.

c. The top of the page contains a list of general server roles that might be found in a
server farm. When you select a role it will highlight the suggested services for the
role. Select Custom to display the complete list.

d. For all services marked Required on Farm, not running, click Start
o When prompted for Office SharePoint Server Search settings, use
the following:
 Select Use this server for indexing content
 Select Use this server for serving search queries
 E-Mail address: administrator@litwareinc.com
 User name: LITWAREINC\administrator
 Password: pass@word1
o Click Start
o When prompted for Windows SharePoint Services Search settings,
use the following:
 User name: LITWAREINC\administrator
 Password: pass@word1
e. Click Start

Exercise 2
Office SharePoint Server 2007 Central Administration – The
Application Management Page

Scenario
This page contains links to pages that help you configure settings for applications and components that are installed
on the server or server farm.

Tasks Detailed Steps


Complete the following 3 Note: Office SharePoint Server 2007 gives you the option to provision a new web

c. Click on Create a new Web application. The Create New Web Application page
should appear.
d. Fill in the Create New Web Application form with the following information:
o IIS Web Site:
 Create a new IIS web site
 Description: Keep the default value
 Port: 80
 Host Header: Leave this empty
 Path: Keep the default
o Security Configuration
 Authentication Provider: NTLM
 Allow Anonymous: No
 Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): No
o Load Balanced URL
 URL: http://moss
 Zone: Keep the default value.
o Application Pool
 Create new application pool
 Application pool name: Keep the default value
 Select a security account for this application pool:
Configurable
 User name: LITWAREINC\administrator
 Password: pass@word1
Note: In a production environment, creating a separate application pool account is
recommended.
o Leave the rest of the items with their default values
e. Click Ok and the Operation in Progress page will appear.

f. After the operation completes, the Application Created page will appear.
g. Click on the Create Site Collection link.
2. Create a new Site a. The Create Site Collection page will appear.

o Web Application: Keep the default value
o Title: HOL Install and Config
o Description: Hands on Lab for installation and configuration
o URL: /
o Template selection: Keep the default value
o Primary Site Collection Administrator
 User name: LITWAREINC\administrator
o Quota Template: Keep the default value
c. Click OK to create your site collection; the Operation in Progress page will
appear.
d. After the operation completes, you will be notified that your top-level site
collection has been created. Click OK to continue.
3. Configuring Note: Office SharePoint Server 2007 has workflow integrated into the platform.
Workflow These settings allow an administrator to control what types of workflows are allowed.
Note: The Workflow Settings page allows you to determine two major things:
• Are user-defined workflows permitted (Ex: SharePoint Designer codeless
workflows)
• Are users without site access permitted for workflows
The changes made to these settings are global for the selected web application.
a. Click on the Workflow settings link at the bottom of the page.
b. Click Cancel to return to the Application Management page.

Exercise 3
Create and Configure the Shared Service Provider

a. Click on the Create or configure this farm's shared services link under Office
SharePoint Server Shared Services. The Manage this Farm's Shared Services
page appears.
b. Click New SSP to add a new Service Provider.
c. Click on the Create a new Web application link.
d. The Create New Web Application page will appear. Fill in the page using the
following information:
o User name: LITWAREINC\administrator
o Password: pass@word1
e. Click the Ok button.
f. The Create New Shared Provider page will appear. Fill in the page using the
following information:
o Set the My Site Location: Web Application: to the same value as
SSP name: Web Application)
o Username: LITWAREINC\administrator
o Password: pass@word1
g. Click the OK button.
h. Click OK on the warning page.
i. After the Shared Provider is created click the OK button.
j. Click on SharedServices1 in the left navigation
2. Import People a. Click on the User profiles and properties link in the User Profiles and My Sites
Profiles section.
b. Click on the Configure profile import link.
c. Click on the Ok button. Note that there are additional items for scheduling profile
imports.
d. Click on the Start full import link.
e. Click on the View user profiles link to view the results of the profile import.

Exercise 4
Office SharePoint Server 2007 Central Administration –
Operations Page

Scenario
This page contains links to pages that help you manage your server or server farm, such as changing the server farm
topology, specifying which services are running on each server, and changing settings that affect multiple servers or
applications.

Tasks Detailed Steps

e. The Add Users page will appear. Click the browse icon (looks like an open book)
and the Select People and Groups dialog will appear.
f. Enter tracy in to the Find field and press Enter.
g. Double click on “Tracy Tallman” from the return list, and click OK.
h. The menu will disappear and the Users/Groups box on the Add Users page will
be populated with your selection.

i. Click OK to add this user to the Farm Administrators group.
j. Click on the Operations tab to return to the Operations page.
2. Incoming e-mail Note: Office SharePoint Server 2007 allows e-mail to be sent to a SharePoint site for
settings storage in lists and libraries. This allows SharePoint sites to be used to archive
discussion groups, as well as to provide users a fast and convenient way to share files.
a. Click on the Incoming e-mail settings link and the Configure Incoming E-Mail
Settings page will appear.
b. This page allows an administrator to enable or disable incoming e-mail to
SharePoint lists. This setting affects the entire farm, adding or removing the
ability to enable or disable this at a list, site, or site collection level.
c. In order to enable incoming e-mail on the farm, select the Yes option in the
Enable Incoming E-Mail section.

d. Click OK to save your configuration change.


e. Enter http://moss/ in the Address field in Internet Explorer and press Enter.
f. The HOL Install and Config site will appear.
g. Click on the Announcements link and the Announcements list view page will
appear.

h. Click on the Settings  List Settings option and the Customize Announcements
page will appear.

i. Click on the Incoming e-mail settings link in the Communications section. The
Incoming E-Mail Settings: Announcements page will appear.

j. Select Yes for Allow this list to receive e-mail and enter announce in the text box
under E-mail address.

k. Choose Accept e-mail messages from any sender in the E-Mail Security
section.

l. Click OK to save these changes.


m. Click on Start  All Programs  Outlook Express to open the mail client.
n. Ignore the error message about the missing POP3 server.
o. Expand Local Folders and click on the Drafts folder.
p. There will be a draft email in the Drafts folder. Double click on this email and
click the Send button.
q. Close Outlook Express.
r. Return to the browser and click on Announcements in the site breadcrumb to
return to the Announcements list.
s. The e-mail may take up to 5 minutes to process. It will be added to the
Announcements list once complete. While waiting you can see the e-mail queue
in C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Drop. The message has been processed when this folder is
empty.
t. Click on Weekly status announcement and notice the text formatting is
maintained.
