in support of third year Selkirk College nursing students

lands and jungles of Guatemala. Students from this years
journey south will be present to answer questions and

Te veteran Klezmer singer, playwright, actor and Yid-
dishist, Allan Merovitz will be with us to celebrate the frst
night of Hannukkah. Te multi-talented artist will treat the
audience to a one-man show, where he will regale us with
songs, stories, candle lighting and dance. A defnite high-
light will be audience participation. Allan will be leading
us in Jewish circle dances such as the Hora, so bring your
dancing shoes .
Allan has recorded and toured North America and Eur-
ope with top Klezmer and Yiddish ensembles, and has
headed up his own band, Klezmerovitz. As a storyteller,
Allan is recognized as a Keeper of Memories in commun-
ities that have experienced his in-depth knowledge of Jew-
ish stories.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids, and $25 for a family
with up to 2 adults and 3 kids. Show time is at 7:00, tickets

Nelson-Creston MLA Michelle Mungall will be hosting
her annual Community Holiday Party and Open House
at Our Daily Bread in Nelson on Tursday, December 6.
Festivities begin at 11 am with lunch served at noon, and

Te Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants
(CICA) applauds the federal governments announced in-
crease to the annual contribution limit for Tax-Free Sav-
ings Accounts (TFSA).
Starting in 2013, Canadians will be able to save an addi-
tional $500 with the annual contribution limit climbing
to $5500. Tis move is in line with recommendations
made by the CICA as part of its pre-budget submission to
the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance.
Our submission called on the federal government to
provide further incentives for Canadians to save money
for their retirement, explained Kevin Dancey, FCA, presi-
dent and CEO, CICA. Increasing the limit on TFSA con-
tributions was among the measures we recommended.
Te CICA submission also underscored the need for
individuals to have fnancial skills and knowledge when
planning and saving for their retirement.
Te adequacy of retirement savings is among the key
challenges associated with an aging population, said
Dancey. Incentives are needed to encourage Canadians
to save more but individuals also require fnancial know-
ledge to make the best choices based on their circum-
stances.
