A career in Apartment Maintenance is a portable career that offers challenges and opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives

of your residents, and every day is different! The Texas Apartment Association Education Foundation, National Apartment Association Education Institute and San Antonio Apartment Association have teamed up to provide those transitioning out of service, military veterans and military spouses with free training to earn a Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians. The training consists of a blend of self-paced online learning and hands-on maintenance training. You will receive the skill training needed to start a career in apartment maintenance. With a great attitude and a willingness to learn new skills, youll be on a career path with unlimited potential. The compensation is competitive, theres ample room for advancement, and its a career you can take anywhere in the country. Training takes place over two sessions with online learning completed in between. Classes run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Between the classroom trainings there are online training modules (approximately 4.5 hours) done on your own time. Once classroom and online training is complete, you will take an online exam. Upon passing, you will earn a provisional certificate until youve completed one-year of experience in the apartment industry, after which youll have your Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT). At the end of the course, TAAEF will provide opportunities for participants to connect with potential apartment industry employers.

Maintenance expenses are the single largest controllable element in any operating budget. This course is designed as an introduction for new maintenance professionals, to give these professionals the knowledge and tools necessary to run an effective maintenance program. Attendees will learn the ins and outs of the apartment business, the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and plumbing systems, Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair, appliance maintenance and repair, and interior and exterior maintenance. CAMT is the only Apartment Maintenance program to be nationally accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The program offeres a combination of non-technical and technical courses, specifically designed for apartment maintenance professionals to meet the needs of todays apartment industry employers.
