Advent begins, we celebrate a season very different in tone from what is taking place in the world around us. This time in the Church is marked by simplicity, calmness, and quiet. We wait in hope and wonder for Jesus, who became human for us, who is present in our lives now, and whose future reign is coming.

Dear Family, Happy 1st Sunday of Advent! Each week during Advent we will reflect on a word and bible verse. Our word this week is LISTEN. In the course of one day how many voices do you listen to? (Your spouse, children, parents, friend, employer, employees) How many other voices do you listen to? ( Internet, TV and radio programs, music, email or text) How often do you listen to a word or voice of God? We know God speaks to us each day through persons, events and in our hearts, but do we hear Him and listen? For me God speaks words of encouragement, challenges, the need to forgive and the need to comfort others. Lately God has been telling me to slow down. I think God wants to catch up with me because I am always running ahead of Him. Can any of you relate to that? Many of you made a commitment in church to pray in conversational prayer for 10 minutes each day for 30 days to listen to the voice of God. I encourage you to keep faithful and patient with yourself to continue this prayer. Remember the word this week is to LISTEN. Remember you are precious in the eyes of God.
