Basics of a Simplified Slavic Language


Here are the basics of a quick and simple communication with some 400 million Slavic
speakers around the world. SLOVIO is the universal simplified Slavic language
understood from the Mediterranean and the Balkans through Northern, Central and
Eastern Europe, through Central and Northern Asia to the Pacific far-East. For more
detailed grammar and vocabulary please visit the website:

Basic spelling and pronunciation


Slovio is practically 100% phonetic language, you pronounce all letters always the same
way, no matter what is in front or after them.

Slovio uses standard Latin alphabet, in other words the same alphabet as English, and
which can by typed and read on just about every computer in the world:

a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

However of the above letters (except for foreign name and words) usually only the
following 26 letters/combinations are being used:

cx - as English "ch" in cheese


sx - as English "sh" in ship
zx - as English "s" in usual , pleasure
gx - as English "g" in general, giant
c - as English "ts" in cats
g - as English "g" in gorilla, get, give
j - as English "y" in yes, yeast
h - more or less as English “h“ or as spanish “j“
other consonants more or less as in English
Vowels: a, e, i, o, u - more or less as in Italian, Spanish, Polish or German.

The basic word forms:


Nouns can have any form and can begin or end with any vowel or consonant.
Verbs normally end with –t
Adjectives normally end with –ju (-yu)
Adverbs usually end with –uo (-wo)

Basic pronouns:

Who? Whom? Whose?

English “you“ can be translated either as “ti“ or “vi“. The first variant is the singular form,
the second variant is the plural or polite form.)
