PROGRESS NOTES
(July 16, 2012)

Self In last week duty, I have mentioned there that I should improve my skills in whatever procedure that is given to me to perform and really, I have performed or assisted a female catheterization procedure. It was very scary coz it was really my first time even I just assisted the staff nurse in performing it. Last week duty was also a hectic one since I've got 8 patients and 3 of them were intubated and need an hourly monitoring so for me, I am the busiest among the group. Sadly, at the end of the day I ended up doing a post-mortem care since one of my intubated patient died. To tell you frankly, I really hate myself on that day for not being an efficient nurse but that was they are saying- move on and improve yourself for the betterment.

Peers I must say, our group really got bonded. It's been 3 weeks already since we had known each other for this rotation and last week, we worked on without our PCI so Ma'am Moreno assigned Kwesi to be our PCI and everything turned not really so smooth but it was fine. We helped each other by doing what other's cannot do. I really appreaciate my groupmates for helping me doing vital signs monitoring in my row. I really thanked them for being approachable and friendly enough to help even in a small way.

Clinical Area Emergency room is really an emergency room. They really reject patients who have illnesses that is considered to be not really an emergency ones.You will really feel tired and burn-out in taking care of the sick but also you must still have the courage and passion in caring them for you to be effective. Being assigned in ER is not an easy task. You must really be snappy enough not to waste time and assess your partients carefully in just blink of your eye so that the problems of your patient will be halted. I acnnot say more than enough of this because this rotation really tested my patience and efficiency. I hope I could still survive for this another day of duty. Our last day of duty. Fingers crossed. CI/ PCI , our CI is really doing a great job in handling us in this area. She always encourages us to do our job effectively and teaches us everything and setting us up to be ready in whatever may come on. She makes us smile in hard situations and tells us everything on what we really should do in a very nice way. our PCI also is great. She's really friendly and I can say she's really working hard to do her job as a PCI- to help us in every situations that is realted to the tasks given. I can say, working with these two is a great opportunity and I'm very thankful that God choses them to be our mentor in this humble task.
