COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVE
Normally Adjective has three forms: Positive, Comparative, and Superlative. Now we are going to talk about Comparative Adjective.

Comparative Adjective is use when we are talking about two things. We use it to describe the differences between that two things and the things could be the same or different. Ex: She is smarter than me. He is older than my brother. My uncle is taller than my grandfather.

USE S

FORM
ONE SYLLABLE ADJECTIVE In general, if the adjective has only one syllable, then we have to add the letters -er. Positive cheap new fast Comparative cheaper newer faster

For one syllable adjective that ends in letter -e, we just add letter -r. Positive large nice late rude TWO SYLLABLES ADJECTIVE If the adjective has two syllables and ends in -y, -er, or -ow, we have to add -er. Comparative larger nicer later ruder

Furthermore, if the adjectives end in -y, all we going to do is to change -y into -i and add -er. Positive happy greedy tidy funny pretty lazy Comparative happier greedier tidier funnier prettier lazier

Positive bad good much far

Comparative worse better more farther/further

NOTE S
After changing the adjective into the comparison form, we have to add than like this: ... + comparative adjective + than + ... Ex: I run faster than you. These shoes are more expensive than my salary.

When than is followed by a personal pronoun, it can be: a subject pronoun+ auxiliary or a subject pronoun + whole clause. In informal English, it is acceptable to use an object pronoun after than. Ex: She works harder than I used to work at her age. She works harder than I do. (Short sentence) She works harder than me. (Informal) (Whole sentence)

And it is not necessary to follow a comparative with than. A comparative can stand on it own. Ex: A: Shall we go by train or by bus? B: The train is more expensive. A: Yes, but its more comfortable. It is clear from the context that the train is being compared with bus.

When the two adjectives joined by and, it will give the idea of continuing increasing. Ex: Its growing bigger and bigger everyday. Its getting more and more difficult to find the right answer.

We use as + adjective + as to indicate that two things are very similar. And we often use it in the negative like not as ...... as.

Ex:

Least is sometimes used in expression not in the least meaning not at all. Ex: It doesnt matter in the least if you cant come. I see you next time. We can qualify comparatives using a bit, a little, a little bit, quite a bit, a lot, much, far, even, hardly, any, no. Ex: Shes much happier than she used to be. He is even more upset than yesterday. This shop is quite a bit cheaper than that one.

WRITING
THE ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE OF USING INTERNET
People lives tend to be easier than it used to be. Everyday we live with technologies that make our life more convenient and interesting. One of those technologies, internet is something that people need the most. Even though its what people need but it also has some bad effect to those who use it. First Im going to talk about the advantages of the internet. If we look into the way people communicate with each other these days, we can see that the communication are faster than the past time when people used to need lots of times to connect with one another. Internet provides people a fast communication such as E-mail. People dont have to spend much time writing a letter and put it at the post office or waiting days and month just to receive the a letter. Now they just need their PCs or mobiles connected internet and write as many letters as they want then send it to the direct person or people they want in just a second. Beside Internet also serves people the chart room, internet call and video conference which are the other ways that people can commute without wasting time in writing. They just make a call then they can talk or see each other faster and easier. Especially people who are working in the business field can get a chance to commute with their partners all around the world without making a business trip at all. On the other hands, information resources are every where in the internet. That information is trust worthy enough with million topics like government law, medicine, technology, education, services and so on. We can get the latest news by typing the topics in the search engine including the most popular ones are Google and Yahoo! Then we can get the news but if we have idea about that news we can share the idea with people in the community and discuss it together. By using Internet, people reduce lots of time going library or any places just to get information. More than this people can entertain them self without going out. Just click the link on the internet, people could enjoy with online games, with movies, drama and music, or with their celebrities. Most celebrities also chose internet to promote their music or movies and have a fun time with their fans. People with different culture additionally can connect with each other learning how different the cultures are and make friend with those who use internet. Then again internet yields people the Social Network include Facebook and Twitter, the one that people can not imagine life without. Its not only popular with youth but with everyone at every part of the world. People, who have fewer friends, now can have many friends. Sometime we can possibly get in touch with long lost friend that we ever imagine or luckily get to meet our soul mate. Social network helps people in finding jobs, business opportunities, etc. Furthermore because of internet, people nowadays effortlessly make a reservation at restaurant or hotel, booking plane ticket, transfer fund, and pay bill or taxes. Another thing about Internet is E-Commerce. Today people dont have to go to market to buy or sell stuff at all. They can make an auction as well and all those activities are only taken place at home or office. These are the advantages of Internet. Now let look back at the

disadvantages of Internet. Along with the huge advantages, it also brings some unwanted problem as well. Personal information that we post on the internet sometime are being used by stranger users. That information is about Name, address, phone number and even the bank account number. It could be use to fulfill the benefit of those users without our knowingness. That might happened when we use online banking, social network or other services. Its a dangerous case that we have to be more careful every time. In addition, spamming is also a case to be careful. Spamming is the way people send unwanted e-mail to many people. It contains advertisements or nothing and at times with the virus which can make the PC work slowly or annoying. Beside the virus, theres malicious software that harm computer in to danger. The biggest disadvantage of internet is Pornography. This thing can cause harm to children and teenagers. It usually contains the X-rated stuff, pornographic photo or video which are also destroy the social life of some adult. Internet tends to make people being isolated from social. Kids could play game all days and even skip school or do something that kid shouldnt do. Adults could spend time only with internet inside the house. If those activities still continue they will develop the laziness making them unhealthy and make their relationship in social especially in family being broke. In conclusion, Internet has ability in making our life much easier and harder. So, people have to consider well before using internet and then it wont cause harm to our life. By: Ung Panhchaneath

THE IMPORTANCE OF READING

It is a well-known fact that when there were no televisions or computers, reading was a primary leisure activity. People would spend hours reading books and travel to lands far away-in their minds. The only tragedy is that, with time, people have lost their skill and passion to read. There are many other exciting and thrilling options available, aside from books. And that is a shame because reading offers a productive approach to improving vocabulary and word power. It is advisable to indulge in at least half an hour of reading a day to keep abreast of the various styles of writing and new vocabulary. It is observed that children and teenagers who love reading have comparatively higher IQs. They are more creative and do better in school and college. It is recommended that parents to inculcate the importance of reading to their children in the early years. Reading is said to significantly help in developing vocabulary, and reading aloud helps to build a strong emotional bond between parents and children. The children who start reading from an early age are observed to have good language skills, and they grasp the variances in phonics much better. Educational researchers have also found a strong correlation between reading and vocabulary knowledge. In other words, students who have a large vocabulary are usually good readers. This is not very surprising, since the best way to acquire a large vocabulary is to read extensively, and if you read extensively you are likely to be or become a good reader. So if you want your child to be successful at school encourage him or her to read. Reading non-fiction in English is probably the most important, but English fiction and any reading in the mother tongue - if done extensively - will help your child develop the reading competence that is essential for academic achievement. Reading provides detailed information on Reading, Home Reading, Reading Glasses, Reading Comprehension and more. Reading is affiliated with Educational Game. By: Lim Lykong

HOW TO BECOME A GOOD STUDENT

To become a good student we should remember 7 following points. First, do your every homework. Do it all before the dead line. And dont start you assignment at 11 pm on Sunday. Take your homework and assignments seriously and try to solve hard problems. Second, when there are exams or quiz coming up, you have to review the definitions of the vocabularies and exercises again. Third, take notes in class and you have to make sure that the notes are neat so you can read them later. You should write the date and name of subject on each notes incase you forget or confuse. Fourth, be sure to pay attention while you are in class. Do not talk to friends or disturb them when teachers are teaching. Fifth, ask questions when you dont know the answer or when you are not sure about it. The teachers love questions but not too many. Remember not to buy time with endless questions. Sixth, do not look at the clock at all during the class. It is disrespectful to the teachers. And if you keep looking, its going to seem like a longer class. Sneak a look at it if you want to know. Seventh, look over the next chapters in your textbook, see warning and skim over it. By do this way, you will understand more when your teachers explain. By: Ton Dyna
