This m e thod is base d on the fact that all of the load losse s, due to friction in ducts and stre ngth due to parts com ing away in acce ssorie s de pe nd on the dynam ic pre ssure , and can be calculate d by m ultiplying the dynam ic pre ssure by a friction loss factor. To obtain the dynam ic pre ssure the following form ula should be applie d:

INTAKE VELOCITIES The intake velocity is the m inim um air ve locity cause d by the hood re quire d to colle ct the air and carry the contam inating fluid towards it. The air ve locity achie ve d de pe nds on the suck e d airflow and the surface are a of the e x tractor hood.
