Attached is the final report for the proposal, "International Cultures Organization at Arizona State University: A Recommendation Report." I completed the tasks described in the proposal of October 5,2012: investigating the significance of a cultural organization at Arizona State University, researching other universities and their ethnic programs, Surveying students for their involvement in a cultural club, research funding and allocation, and program structure and staffing. To perform these tasks, I performed research on various tasks. I studied the effects of a cultural organization, conducted surveys with students, and looked at other universities implemented programs. Then, I collected and analyzed the data and wrote the finalized report. The findings suggest that a cultural organization here at Arizona State University, would be positively received. In addition, students were receptive to the idea, and over all think it would be beneficial to the student body. The organization would hold fund raisers and seek grant help from ASU, to keep such a program economically afloat. Research showed that students would be open to the exchange of cultural experiences and enrichment. On the basis of these findings, we recommend that Arizona State University implement such a program on campus. I appreciate the trust that was shown in the acceptance of the proposal, and the study of its feasibility. I would look forward to further working with you on other portions of the study. If you have any questions or comments please contact Carlos Castro at c.h.castro@asu.edu.

Abstract

"A Cultural Organization Program at Arizona State University: A Recommendation Report"

Prepared By: Carlos Castro, Student Arizona State University On October 5, 2012 , Mr. Kevin Cook, Dean of Student Affairs for Arizona State University (ASU) formally approved my proposal to commence a feasibility study of implementing a cultural organization at ASU. To perform the research that would answer the study, I looked through online literature in various topics and performed a student survey in order to evaluate the outlook of cultural program. Considering research conducted from Ohio State University (OSU) and their already implemented culture programs, I found that the students at OSU found the program beneficial and added value to their academic experience. I found that both students and teachers, are very receptive to the idea of having a cultural program open to all students. Knowing this information, the student survey at ASU, had really great responses. More than half of the surveyed students said that they would be willing to share their cultures in such a program; and around 60% said they would participate in the program regularly. I recommend that ASU considers implementing such a program. Keywords: ASU, culture program, student attitudes, faculty attitudes
