Infuence Maps of research into styles, scenes and machinery that were used when designing the environments and planning what the style of the animaton would be.

The infuence map on the lef shows other artsts interpretatons of The Industrial Revoluton while the ones above show research of Victorian toys and infuental character design.

Charles's head sketches. The aim was to make a character that looks sweet and one that can easily be sympathised with. I decided to work on the botom lef image.

Developing Charles' body and head shape, and experimentng with colour.
The character did not seem quite right. He looked older than intended therefore, I went back to draw some very quick sketches to make him look younger
Character Evoluton
Working with the previous concepts and sketches, I worked on developing the character, trying to make slight changes to the fgure, face shape and features untl I created a character I was fairly happy with.

Lightng Tests
Experimentng with lightng, the scene was slightly challenging in terms of fnding a balance between creatng a dark, dingy factory whilst have a well lit scene for viewing purposes. The second issue was trying not to make the scene too orange to prevent the factory from looking too warm. We wanted to convey a harsh working environment.
