Corn is grown for human consumption and livestock There is 24K tons of Corn that yield during harvest period. (August, September and October) Majority of the growing land is dedicated to growing permanent crops, like nut trees, grapes, and fruit. Which once are planted will stay producing up to 20-25 years. When buying corn:


make sure the husks appear green and fresh They should not look dried out Pull back the husks and examine the kernels, they should look plump and arranged in tight rows.

DISH: Black Bean and Corn Salsa


Ingredients 2 (15-ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained 1 cup fresh, frozen, or canned no-salt-added corn, drained 1 tomato, chopped 1 red, yellow, or green bell pepper, seeded and chopped small red onion, chopped 1 jalapeo, seeded and finely chopped 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice 1 tablespoon olive oil Salt and freshly ground black pepper cup chopped fresh cilantro Directions In a bowl, combine black beans, corn, tomato, bell pepper, onion, and jalapeo. In a bowl, combine lime juice, oil, and drizzle over bean mixture. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle with cilantro.
