DEDICATION This technical report is dedicated to the Almighty God whose unlimited help, favour and infinite mercy saw me throughout the period of my industrial training and up to this moment. May His name be exalted! To whom I ascribe all the glory and thanks.

ABSTRACT The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is aimed at introducing undergraduates to standard industrial practices in their respective fields and to give them the opportunity to reconcile theoretical principles with practical applications. The work experience being reported was undertaken at Philtola Engineering Limited between 4th of April and 15th of November 2012. It is aimed at reporting the knowledge, skills acquired, and areas of participation during my Industrial Training. It also gives an introduction of the company, Philtola Engineering Limited. During the process of the training, I was exposed to standard Quantity Surveying Practice, Preparation of materials schedule, site supervision and records, bridge construction, Physical measurement works and many other relevant subjects. Conclusively, the SIWES has positively contributed to my development as a future Quantity surveyor, exposed me to a better understanding of the academic world especially in the correlation of theoretical works done in class and their practical application.
