Each Whistling Competition contestant or School attendee must complete and submit a separate application form. If you are not a contestant or whistlers school attendee but wish to attend one or both banquets, please complete the Banquet Reservation Form An applicant who has not previously been a contestant at the International Whistlers Convention must submit a recording of their whistling in each contest category that they will be competing in no later than March 1, 2013. This may be submitted in the following formats; cassette tape, CD, Youtube link or an e-mailed digital file. Contestants may choose to compete in one or more categories. Only those competing in BOTH Classical and Popular will be eligible for the International Grand Championship. All performances are solo performances, with the exception of Allied Arts. Please print or type carefully so that mailings and e-mails get to you instead of returned to the IWC.

Musical Categories: Check all categories that you will be competing in. It is not necessary to compete in both Classical and Popular but Both Classical and Popular are necessary to be eligible for the Grand Championship. Classical: Must be music from composers generally considered as the past or current masters. Please verify with the IWC ahead of time if you are not sure if your selection qualifies as classical. Popular: Any popular music not classified as classic. (Ex: jazz, spiritual, country, folk, ) Allied Arts: Whistling in conjunction with another art form. This can be a character portrayal, comedy, dance, singing, acting, additional instrumentation, unique vocal sounds (hand whistling, bird calls), or improvisation. Accompaniment: Recorded back-up music may support each selection. Please check the type of accompaniment you will be using: CD cassette tape a cappella *ONLY in Allied Arts can music be live accompaniment. *

For the International Whistlers Convention (IWC) the following is part of any contestants application, or registrant to the IWC Whistlers School, or allied activities. 1. All information on the application form must be honest. 2. All information distributed, particularly about awards and titles received, to the news media must be honest. 3. Passport and immigrations records must be correct and legal. 4. No illegal drugs or contraband may be transported to the facilities used by the IWC or on the premises of Louisburg College. 5. No sales of CDs or other recordings for commercial purposes are allowed if in violation of copy-right laws. 6. No intentional behavior to create character damage in discrimination of nationality, religion, political views, marital status, gender, color, age, sexual orientation, or physical and mental limitations is permitted. 7. No stealing or damage to personal items or items in the Museum or at the College is allowed. 8. For courtesy reasons be prepared according to designated time of performance order, unless an honest emergency. 9. Cell phones, and all other communication devices must be turned off (not vibrate) in all performance and practice areas. 10. Do not interrupt or disturb sound and light technicians, MC, or any backstage assistant when contests and concerts are in action. 11. No inconsiderate backstage whistling or talking while another contestant is performing. Dressing rooms are available for practice. 12. Avoid disturbing others in the audience by audibly whispering negative or false statements about the other contestants. 13. Be considerate to the stage staff and judges by having the properly spelled music title and name of composer or music source for separate tapes or CDs of each musical selection. 14. Be cooperative and considerate with the news media, and do not interfere while others are being interviewed. 15. There is NO SMOKING AT ALL in any College building or anywhere on campus or in the museum. As a role model to youth and the public in general, do not use tobacco when with the news media 16. No distribution or sale of photos, audio, video, or memorabilia is permitted without the express consent of the IWC Chair. 17. Foul or offensive language will not be tolerated. 18. The judges or Board of Directors of the IWC may disqualify any contestant whose performance, language, or behavior is considered disruptive, offensive, unethical, discriminatory, or unprofessional to them, others, or the public.
