Aidan awards prizes for third Annual Christmas Card Competition

Aidan Burley MP with the winner of his 2012 Christmas Card competition - Hannah Seaman, aged 10 from Bridgtown Primary School in Cannock. Aidan met with students from Bridgtown Primary School and Phil Pemble from Pertemps People Development Group last week to award prizes for his third annual Christmas card competition. Aidan received hundreds of entries from pupils across Cannock Chase each hoping to have their design selected to appear on the front of Aidan's official MP Christmas card which is sent to local schools, businesses, charities, colleagues and friends throughout the constituency - as well as the Prime Minister in 10 Downing Street. Aidan's Christmas cards have been kindly sponsored once again by local employment firm Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) who have worked alongside the MP Help Zone since his election in helping and supporting the long term unemployed back into work. The theme for this year's competition was 'Cannock Chase at Christmas' and, as with previous years, the winning design was chosen by Aidan and his team. The winning entry was designed by Hannah Seaman, Aged 10 from Bridgtown Primary School in Cannock. Hannah will have her name, age and school printed on the inside front page of the card and will also receive a framed copy of their winning card, a certificate and a special present from the House of Commons. This year Aidan selected two runner ups whose designs will appear on the back of the card. They were Georgia Rowley, Aged 10 from Bridgetown Primary School and Joseph Horden, Aged 10 from Gorsemoor Primary School. Commenting Aidan said: "I would like to thank all those pupils who entered a design for my Christmas card competition this year. The standard of entries has improved year on year so much so that I had to pick two runners up this year. Particular congratulations must go to Hannah, Georgia and Joseph, whose wonderful designs made it onto my official MP Christmas Card. "While many MPs choose to send generic Parliament cards, I decided I wanted to do something a little different and give local students the opportunity to showcase their talent and have their winning design transformed from a drawing on a piece of paper at school to a professionally printed card sent to over 500 people - including the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street. He added: "I would like to pass on my sincere thanks once again to Pertemps People Development Group for sponsoring my cards and supporting this competition."
