Genesis
The Army Institute of Management, Kolkata was established on 28 July 1997 by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), New Delhi, to conduct state-of-the-art Management Programme for the wards of Army personnel with an opportunity for the general candidates as well. The eco-friendly campus is spread over nine acres of land at Alipore, in the heart of the City of Joy.

AIM offers Two-year MBA Programme (full time residential). The batch strength of the course is 120. The programme emphasizes on an integrated understanding of theory and practice. Summer Internship is mandatory as an integral part of the MBA Curriculum. Every student has to undergo 4 to 6 weeks summer internship at the end of 1st year programme. Special emphasis is given to develop personality traits, communication skills, all-round awareness and practical knowledge of managing resources. Continuous interactions with Industry Captains are maintained through colloquia, seminars and discussions.

Kuber, the Finance Club of AIMK (a student body) organized an Annual event Dristikon, a panel Discussion on Budget- 2011 on 27.03.2011.

The Institutes bi-annual journal-Kindler research papers and articles on different areas of management and provides valuable inputs to the practicing managers, management faculty and management students fraternity. 05

Inferno
Inferno, the Annual B-School Management Fest of AIM, was held on 26th

February, 2011. It saw a footfall of 800+ people and a participation of 14 colleges. Few of hte major sponsors were Levis, Linen club, Yamaha with radio partner Power FM and media partner T2. An array of events including guest band performance by Insomnia were the major attractions. 1. Shamiyana-e-Vyapaar the Marketing Event where each team was given a product for which they had to design its marketing campaign Print Advertisement. 2. Jagirdari the event on Finance where case studies on Finance were given to each team. 3. Diwan-i-Khas the HR role play event whereteams were given situations involving managerial dilemma. 4. Dalil-Al-Netizens the event on System where each team was supposed to make collage on given popular social networking site and compare with the others. 5. Malhar eastern solo vocal competition 6. Akriti face painting and body art competition 7. Srajan Trash items were provided to the participants to make something innovative with it - an innovation game competition. 8. Diwan-E-Aam a Street Play competition 9. Waziro mein badshah the Business Quiz competition 10. Bayaan-e-zuban an Extempore competition 11. Natya a dance competition (Contemporary Style) 12. LT NAVDEEP SINGH, ASHOKA CHAKRA
(08 Jun 1985 20 Aug 2011) Navdeep Singh, an MBA student from AIMK (2007-2009), joined Indian Army as a Lt in Army Ordnance Corps in Mar 2011. He sacrified his life in terrorist encounter on 20 August 2011.

AIM offers Two-year MBA Programme (full time residential). The batch strength of the course is 120. The programme emphasizes on an integrated understanding of theory and practice. Summer Internship is mandatory as an integral part of the MBA Curriculum. Every student has to undergo 4 to 6 weeks summer internship at the end of 1st year programme.
