December 23, 2012 8:30 a.m. & 10:50 a.m. Fourth Sunday of Advent
Advent is a season of four weeks including four Sundays. Advent derives from the Latin adventus, which means coming. The season proclaims the comings of the Christ whose birth we prepare to celebrate once again, who comes continually in Word and Spirit, and whose return in final victory we anticipate.

MORNING PRAYER Magnificent God, look upon us with your loving favor. Shine upon us with the light of your wisdom. Strengthen us in our weakness, that we may know the power of your love. Scatter us in our pride, that we may learn the humility of servanthood. Lift us up when we are disheartened, and nourish us with your abundant grace. Help us, O Promised One of Israel, to be your people and to serve your world. Help us live as Advent people: hopefully expectant, and patiently diligent, that we may bring your realm to this earth. Amen. WORDS OF ASSURANCE Leader: O magnify the Lord! Rejoice in God, our Savior! For God looks with favor on our lowliness, lifts us from the depths of sin and despair, and restores us to fullness of life in Christ Jesus.

OFFERING OUR GIFTS AND PRAYERS Offering envelopes may be found inside front cover of UM Hymnal. A SONG OF PRAISE TO GOD Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. UMH #95
