Unison Scriptures
LUKE 1:46-55 (NRSV) And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, 47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. 51He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. 52 He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; 53he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. 54He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55 according to the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.
46

LUKE 1:46-55 (The Message) And Mary said, Im bursting with God-news; Im dancing the song of my Savior God. God took one good look at me, and look what happenedIm the most fortunate woman on earth! What God has done for me will never be forgotten, the God whose very name is holy, set apart from all others. His mercy flows in wave after wave on those who are in awe before him. He bared his arm and showed his strength, scattered the bluffing braggarts. He knocked tyrants off their high horses, pulled victims out of the mud. The starving poor sat down to a banquet; the callous rich were left out in the cold. He embraced his chosen child, Israel; he remembered and piled on the mercies, piled them high. Its exactly what he promised, beginning with Abraham and right up to now.

Advent Meditation
WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS? A RENEWAL OF EXPECTATION
Does a feeling of expectation have to be found only in tiny tots with their eyes all aglow or can it be found in all of us? Advent is a time of receiving good news and God wants us to find some newness. It is not that Gods love was absent from human life before the time of Jesus coming. The ancient Psalm writer spoke again and again about Gods steadfast love. Jesus brought it in a new way with personal power. What would it take to rediscover this newness? Actually, that is what expectation is all about: an awareness that a loving God wants to come to each of us in a new way. Several artists have painted pictures of Jesus, Knocking at the Door. In Advent, that knocking is particularly loud. How do we open the door? Probably, we should begin by realizing that we already have many blessings from God. Living within our homes, or our world, we take a lot of things for granted: shelter from the cold, food to eat, friends and family. We have abilities to cope with most of the problems that arise. Realizing this and enjoying what we already have enables us to discover and appreciate new things. The secret of this feeling is thankfulness. It is a coincidence, but noteworthy, that Thanksgiving Day comes before Christmas. With a thankful spirit, we welcome Gods new gift. When we remember that life, itself, is Gods gift, we are open to expect and receive more. Perhaps, this season will help you to see people around you in a new and more loving way. Perhaps your vocation and your daily tasks will open up new ways of being creative. Art or music, hobbies or exercise may provide energizing renewal. Fresh spiritual gifts come down the chimney and are scattered around the Christmas tree. How we need to be open to Gods spirit, looking up expectantly! As Jesus said, Ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)

2012 Trinity UCC Theme Walking, Talking and Living Our Faith, Ephesians 4 (NLT)
January Ephesians 4:1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. February Ephesians 4:2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each others faults because of your love. March Ephesians 4:3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. April Ephesians 4:4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. May Ephesians 4:5-6 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all. June Ephesians 4:7 However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. July Ephesians 4:11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. August Ephesians 4:12 Their responsibility is to equip Gods people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. September Ephesians 4:13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of Gods Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. October Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We wont be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. November Ephesians 4:15-16 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. December Ephesians 31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
