What are Bible principles? Bible principles are fundamental truths. Rather, laws are generally specific and detailed. (Deuteronomy 22:8) We have to develop thinking ability to look for ways to apply principles in many different settings. (Proverbs 2:10-12) For instance, the Bible teaches that life is a gift from God. This basic principle can guide us at work, at home, while traveling by moving us to take necessary security measures.Acts 17:28.

What are the two basic principles of the Bible? Jesus spoke about two key principles. The first reveals the purpose of life: to know God, love him and to serve him faithfully. We should heed this principle in our day-to-day decisions. (Proverbs 3:6) Individuals guided by this principle, gain God's friendship, real happiness and everlasting life.Matthew 22:36-38. The second principle can help us develop peaceful relationship with others. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) Applying this principle, we copy how Jehovah deals with people. Matthew 7:12; 22:39, 40.

Why are Bible principles for our benefit? Bible principles teach family members how to enjoy unity showing love for each other. (Colossians 3:12-14) God's word also offers protection to families, teaching them another guiding principle: marriage should be viewed as permanent.Genesis 2:24. Bible principles safeguard us in both material and emotional ways. For instance, employers often choose to employ those who follow Bible principles of honesty and diligence. (Proverbs 10:4; 10:26; Hebrews 13:18) God's Word also teaches us to be content with the necessities of life and to consider friendship with God more important than material things.Matthew 6:24, 25; 6:33. Bible principles safeguard our health. (Proverbs 14:30; 22:24, 25) For example, God's law against drunkenness protects us from disease and fatal accidents. (Proverbs 23:20) Jehovah allows us to drink alcohol but only in moderation. (Psalm 104:15; 1 Corinthians 6:10) Bible principles are for our welfare and benefit, a key to controlling not only our acts but also our thoughts. (Psalm 119:97-100) Still, true Christians respect God's standards not for selfish advantage, but to bring honor to Jehovah.Matthew 5:14-16.
