Farewell to arms is one of the most famous anti-war novels written in 1929 by Earnest Hemingway.

It is Frederic Henrys story of what happened to him during the World War I. The narration makes more impression for the readerships more interesting characteristics about the main character, Frederic Henry. Frederic is an American serving the Italian army as an ambulance driver. Although the author doesnt describe the character in detail but through the inner world of the character we can feel more about him. Firstly, he has good sense of duty. He is a good friend to his friends (he will risk his life to feed them), a sweet boyfriend to Catherine (they never fight, hes never mean to her). Hes a valiant and brave ambulance driver, risking his life to care for soldiers wounded in World War I. Also, he was studying to be an architect when the war broke out, He has dropped his studies and volunteered as an ambulance driver.
