Letter of Transmittal: 4/16/2012 James Orendorff To Whom this May Concern: Troy University is a university of many opportunities, and it always will be. The opportunities of organizations, social groups, clubs, and Greek life combined; there is not a boring moment at a Troy university event. Organizations have more to do with outside of campus help, like charities, community services and things of that nature. Social groups and clubs lean more towards students in groups of their major and help them get a feel of what their major will do for people once they graduate and become a part of their work field. It also helps some students choose whether that field is what they would like to be a part of, or whether they should choose something else they would finds more interesting. Greek life is a world of its own. With the social events, community service and gatherings for their individual philanthropies, they give so much to their campus and communities, and have connections for the rest of their lives with their Greek letters. All of the examples given are open opportunities for each and every student who attends Troy University. That is one of the great things about Troy is the fact that their opportunities are not to benefit the providers, but to give back to our university: Giving back to students, faculty and staff as well as the alumni and outside supporters who have provided us with the wonderful campus and society surrounding Troy University.

Troy makes sure that they help others before themselves and all of their organizations are a perfect example of how they give back and how you can help Troy University with becoming a part of it all.

Executive Summary The things you can do for your university is very important. It is important to take full advantage of all of the opportunities but as good student you should want to show your appreciation by giving back. In our conclusion we found that it is most important to make sure you do as much for your university because your university is providing you with a lot of opportunities to better yourself and live the life that most students dream of. In our research we will analyze 1. Enrollment 2. Giving back as alumni 3. And what exactly is being a good alumnus On the basis of our findings we recommend that all students do their duty and keep the cycle going on from what the people who graduated before us did to make the university better for generations to come.

Problem Ask not what the University does for you but what you can do for the University! Background College is about giving oneself options, and no one is better at that than Troy. Students at Troy should have determination, and motivation about succeeding and by doing so each must: 1. Prepare oneself 2. Plan out 3. Be driven. Discussion of findings This research paper discusses how students can better the University. There are many benefits to being a student by being a student one should take advantage of the opportunity and take pride and joy of his/or her university. The research results tell how a student may help the university while in school and upon graduating.

ENROLLMENT Encouraging others about the benefits of attending Troy is very helpful for the university! One should speak well on how the University has been helpful to you and will be benefit you in the future. To achieve your recruiting goals, it is essential to develop a comprehensive and effective strategy. Great communication is the main way to recruit, many perspective student prefer face to face recruitment over online! There are a variety of targeted events and approaches for raising visibility (McGrath, 2012). An important component of strategic is international hiring. One-third of most university students are international and bring a wealth of multilingual and multicultural skills, experiences, and perspectives. To broaden your pool of exceptional candidates, including international students is a great strategy (McGrath, 2012). Finally, it's useful to evaluate some additional recruiting options through special internship programs (McGrath, 2012). Opportunities and avenues are endless, and you must be creative in your initiatives to recruit the best new minds.

University student. After recruitment, begins the rest of your extracurricular side of college life! Organization giving back: Organizations are a huge part of how you can give back to Troy. Organizations are groups that reach out to the community. They are usually groups that help support major charities, sometimes even help raise exceeding amounts of money for local charities. Organizations provide a group setting for its students. Each student is at equal opportunity with each organization and that gives our university a wonderful reputation as well as a great outlook for potential students to look at when considering Troy as their choice for greater education.

Social Groups for everyone: Social groups differ from organizations because they tend to attract more students who are looking to meet people of the same field of work as they are. If they dont choose a social group for that matter than they will chose the social group as something they like to do for a hobby. Social groups are similar to organizations on campus because they also tend to reach out to the community with fundraisers, and raising money for

things going on in your society as well as bigger organizations. Social groups are groups that reach out to every student as an equal opportunity. They help you become stronger informed about your major and the types of situations you will be around one day. You get to do something you truly enjoy doing if you chose a social group as a hobby. Fraternities and sororities enable students to broaden themselves intellectually and socially by working with people of diverse backgrounds dedicated to common goals. These groups offer many experiences to assist the individual in obtaining an education. Greek life is a great way to benefit you The opportunity to develop leadership and responsibility and a varied social program.

What You Will Gain Conclusion:

There are so many organizations that need a pair of helping hands, especially a pair of helping hands that are regularly available. I really enjoy the intangible benefit of giving. Giving back to the university gives you a pleasant feeling of connectedness and
11

the satisfaction of at least trying to make the world a better place. There are tangible benefits to giving back to the university, too. For one thing, if you give enough, giving back to the community can raise your curricular status for one day when you apply for a job, as well as scholar ships and other things during college. The more you give to the university you get so much back, it is a great feeling.

What You Give Back Conclusion:

Giving back to Troy University is one of the most simple and great things a student can do while being a part of this wonderful university. Troy University gives you the opportunity to do something great and by taking the opportunity it helps both you and the University. When students take the opportunity to join an organization it gives them the chance to make new friends and it helps them out with school work. It also makes the University look good when students participate in organizations. By joining an organization you give back to the university just as much as it gives to you.

ACHIEVING SUPERIOR GRADES

1. You should attend class regularly. 2. Study tremendously hard.

3. Set a high GPA Students are able to benefit the university by achieving good grades. Achieving good grades shows that students are serious about their future and helps the university get outstanding reviews compared to other universities the better the grades the better the ratings.

12

Great ratings tend to get many perspective students! There are many ways a student can attain wonderful grades: 1. Pay attention in class. Being a responsible student stems from being attentive. Paying attention guarantees that you are aware of upcoming assignments, quizzes, and possibly even extra-credit opportunities. 2. Take notes. According to the School for Champions website, "Note-taking will force you to pay attention to the material and not allow your mind to wander." Moreover, note taking will help you remember a teacher's lecture should you become confused about a project or assignment later on 3. Do your homework. For many students, homework adds up to a significant number of points over the course of a grading period. Whether homework is checked for correctness or completeness, it can help to boost your grade -- provided you complete it on time and to the best of your ability. Constantly neglecting homework assignments can create a point shortfall from which it is nearly impossible to recover.

4. Study for tests. Most teachers use tests to assess a student's

understanding of a given

subject matter. That said, tests often account for a significant portion of a student's grade. For some students, the word "test" creates a sense of panic. However, doing well on tests comes down to one factor: preparation. Studying for tests reduces anxiety, enabling you to concentrate more. According to School for Champions, "Taking a test or exam is similar to what an athlete would do before a big game or a professional musician would do before a performance or show."

13

3. Participate in class. While it's true that some students struggle with shyness, every student can find a way to participate in class. If you are not comfortable speaking to a whole class, be sure to find your voice when completing group work. Answer questions that you definitely know the answer to in order to avoid being embarrassed by answering incorrectly. Moreover, by completing all of your assignments and going to class prepared, the teacher will know that you take your education seriously, even if you are not the most voiced student in class. Successful students understand that success is achieved through hard work, and that hard work translates into staying focused on goals, completing assignments on time and preparing for tests. Still, even struggling students can achieve academic success by using the right tools and strategies.

GRADUATING BECOMING AN ALMUNI 1. Never give up! 2. Strive for the best! 3. Give back!

Graduating from the university and giving back are two of the grandest way to facilitate the university. Like making good grades graduation helps with getting your school delightful rankings. Students want to know that a university is strong in the area they're interested in. Top rankings will break this down even further into a top ten list of programs
14

available at the university. That gives students another measure to start the school selection process (Johnson, 2012). rankings are popular among students and students entering a university want to choose one that is highly ranked Most universities and colleges make some effort to promote themselves in consideration of rankings, marketing their name and reputation among academic peers, and some even go to such extreme lengths as creating departments solely to increase program standing. Such extraordinary actions clearly skew rankings (Johnson, 2012).

The different combinations of evaluation criteria to produce a list of top schools are
almost as numerous as the scales themselves. For example, U.S. News & World Report's rankings are based on multiple factors including student graduation rates, school financial resources, peer assessments, student-faculty ratio, applicant acceptance rates and average GMAT scores (Johnson , 2012). Graduation is extremely important when it comes to helping University because it conveys higher ranking which also brings more potential students that will produce more finances to the university.

TROY UNIVERSITY GRADUATION RATES STUDENT BODY AND STUDENT ATHLETES FRESHMEN ENTERING FALL 1999 THROUGH FALL 2003

The Federal Student-Right-To-Know law requires that institutions assess and report student retention and completion rates to the public. Monitoring retention and completion rates over time can help assess the effectiveness of academic and student life programs as well as innovative programs such as the first year experience program aimed at increasing freshmen retention. The graduation rates established by the United States Department of Education to meet current Student-Right-To-Know requirements calls for the Cohort group to be those first-time, full-time freshmen students who enrolled at the University during Summer or Fall six years prior to the reporting year and graduated before Fall of the reporting year.

Following, graduation you should get involved with Alumni Affairs which will help the university tremendously. How Can Alumni Help?

Alumni can hire students and other alumni to work for their firms, businesses or government agencies.

They can participate as mentors to the university students. Alumni may appear on panels and workshops to describe a particular area of practice or type of career.

Alumni can fund a variety of scholarships and programs. Being Alumni you can donate to the university

Giving back to the university is a very good deed for alumni. There are many ways a student can be very supportive to their university while attending school and after graduation. As a student you can do much for the university more than one can think of and It would not be beneficial for the university but for the student as well!

Conclusion: Your university will provide you with all tools to be successful. It is up to you whether or not you use the tools correctly to better yourself as an individual so that you will be able to get that dream job that all students hope for. On the other hand return you should do your duty as a student and do for your university. It is important that as a graduating student that you do things for your university so that the next group of students coming along can continue doing the same by giving back with Organizations, using social groups to better yourself,

17

Organizations giving back: You should not only think about the benefits that your organization will give to you. But, you should think about the good you can do for your university now that you are a part of an organization. It is true that you can give back and help out where you can by yourself, but the things you can do a lot more on a bigger scale if you are with a larger group. If everyone in that one group has the same drive to and determination to give back then you can get a lot done. Organizations also do well in showing future students an outlook as to what they can expect. Organizations have a big impact on whether or not students think that the campus will be enjoyable for them. Organizations also give back to the community in doing: Play days for kids at parks Reading to kids at schools Food and clothing drives for the unfortunate

All of these things impact our surrounding community because it shows people that students are actually trying to take their time out to represent not just our organization we are a part of but as a Troy University Student. Social Groups: The social groups that are available on campus are endless. Most people join the social group that has to do with their major. As far as using social groups to do for your university goes you can use it in many ways. By getting your group to participate in many of the projects going on to help build up the university.

18

Campus cleanup And promoting the university

Becoming Alumni: It is important that graduates become active and try to mentor students to show them the right way. Alumnus can give back by: Paying their fees Coming back to mentor students Making sure to always support the university

Being alumni and actually being a good alumni member are very different. Those who graduate and still try to contribute in any way they can shows people that they really care about their school. If people seeing how much you care about where you came from then they will become more interested because they know that there has to be something special about the school to make you want to do it. This trend will keep going because when people see how alumni give back it makes them want to work hard so they can be able to do so one day. If we can get this attitude into every student then our university will continue to prosper. From our analysis on ways to make sure you give back to your university you have to: 1. Join clubs to give back on a great scale 2. Become a contributing Alumni 3. Make sure to promote the university by mentoring incoming freshman
