Transient Response
The output voltage measured at the converter output pins on the system board will be within the transient range shown in Table 3. The transient response should be measured over a DC 100 MHz frequency bandwidth, and at ambient temperatures between 0 C and 70 C.
Typical transient response and noise waveforms are shown in Figures 3 10.

Overvoltage protection circuit protects against shorted feedback/sense connections. Voltage sequencing: No allowed variation of input voltages, output current or control signals will falsely trigger an OVP event or damage the module.
Overtemperature Protection
The module is protected against failure from overtemperature conditions created by high ambient temperature, or by airflow which is less than the specified minimum requirements. It will either operate properly within the requirements or shut down (nonlatching). The module will function as specified under overtemperature conditions until disabled (nonlatching) by the protection circuit.
Remote Sense
The remote sense inputs (VOUTSEN+ and VOUTSEN-) should be connected to the load using separate sense traces on the system board. Remote sense can compensate for the total output voltage drop not more than 15% of the nominal output voltage, otherwise the overvoltage protection will activate. In the event of an open remote sense line, the module will maintain local sense regulation through 10 internal resistors to output terminals. NOTE: Resistance in sense traces can result in regulation error due to voltage drop in those traces.

Parallel Operation
To enhance the output current capability of the single module (Figure 35), parallel operation of the modules is possible (Figure 36), in a synchronized MasterSlave configuration; one Master can control up to three Slaves. In that case, maximum static output current, as well as maximum IOUT slew rate, is multiplied by the total number of modules, without degrading other electrical characteristics. For example, one Master plus three Slaves can supply four times more current than a single Master alone, and the dIOUT/dt of the dynamic load current can be four times greater (Figures 37 and 38). Modules share the output current within 10 %. To ensure proper static and transient characteristics and low interconnection resistance and inductance, modules must be placed next to each other (Figure 36), and Master should be closest to the load. For proper cooling and unobstructed airflow, a realistic spacing of 0.6 is recommended between pins #1 of the Master and the Slave (and also Slave to Slave) connectors, which will result in about 0.3 between modules. Interconnection between Master and Slave(s) is shown in Figure 39.

Figure 43. Pin-out of 12 VIN Slave NOTES: AMP Connector Part No. 530843-5 needs a removable key AMP Part No. 650025-2, which must be inserted in the proper slot inside the connector case. AMP Part No. 145459-9 has a non-removable key already built in the connector case, and can be used for a 12 V Slave exclusively. Opposite direction of the airflow will result in lower output current capability, but will not damage the module.

Mechanical Specifications
Mechanical specifications (Table 12) and module outline (Figure 44) apply both for Master and Slave modules. Table 12. Mechanical Specifications Parameter Physical Size Symbol L W H Min Typical 65.68 (2.586) 8.3 (0.33) 37.08 (1.46) Max Unit mm (in.) mm (in.) mm (in.)
Shock
0.25 ( 0.010) mm (in.) 28.3 (1.0) grams (oz.) The 50-pin connector is AMP Part No. 530843-5 (without latch, Figures 35 and 36) or No. 145459-6, 145459-7, 145459-8, 145459-9 (with latch, cover photo). The removal and installation process for the module does not require use of tools. As assembled in the connector, the module will survive 50 g (11 ms, halfsine) as minimum shock along any axis. This applies both for latched and non-latched connector.
