I happen to think that this is one of the fine st essays on Enochian Magick available on the net, and I also think it is unfort unate that it came about due to a retort of a retort over a critique offered abo ut the book being discussed. If you strip away the problems that 'Sir Anon' has with the book (of which his a rguments are quite compelling), you are still left with a potent presentation of the information in Sloane MS 307. The author of the book took 'Sir Anon's' Critique quite personally, and it is un fortunate that his retort delved into the realms of personal jabs. 'Sir Anon's' response has (IMHO) quite thoroughly 'wiped the floor with him'. The unfortunate thing is that there is quite a bit of wisdom contained in the book, as long as it placed in the correct context. I think this was 'Sir Anon's' point all along. Not that the information wasn't valid, but that it was misrepresented. I don't known and haven't read the book, so it is impossible for me to say concl usively, but I have had discussions about it with a couple different people. It has also been recommended to me as an excellent work for Enochian Magick. The ma in contention is that it is not based on Dee manuscripts, but rather, on a True and Faithful Relation. Whereas (apparently) the authors insinuate that the book was a translation of an original Dee document. At the end of the day, if someone can give a first hand account of this book on the board, that would be better. But I think it is still quite worth the purchas e and perusal as it is a working form of the Enochian System, and is quite likel y an actual working grimoire from someone who actually had experience with the s ystem pre-golden dawn and not long after Dee's death. One of the questions it raises is the idea of an unbroken lineage of practitione rs of Dee's system ... which is a wonderful idea, but based on the Sir Anon's ex tended critique, does seem a little far fetched to me. It never hurts to have as much published literature on the Enochian System as po ssible. Especially any work (scholarly or pseudo-scholarly) that publishes reada ble forms of manuscripts from the Sloane Collection, or the Cotten Appendix. In this case, ignore the hype, but understand there are some real facts to be ha d and learned in Sir Anon's extended critique of the book.
