Purple Invaders: The Mission

BACKGROUND INFORMATION Purple Invaders have been attacking our stations throughout the universe. Your mission is to eliminate all the Purple Invaders in the Galactic Sector A. The missiles on your ship follow a linear path. If you enter an equation into your missile systems computer, the missile will attack each Purple Invader that lies on the path of the line. Your goal is to use as few missiles as possible to eliminate all the Purple Invaders. Each missile can be used only once but has dual charges. Each missile must attack at least two Purple Invaders. Heres the catcha Purple Invader must be attacked by two separate missiles, on different trajectories, in order to be destroyed. The first missile disables the Purple Invaders shield; the second missile will destroy the Purple Invader. You only have ten missiles. The following list contains all the coordinates of the Purple Invaders in Galactic Sector A.

Your Mission 1. Plot these 12 points on graph paper. 2. Draw the missile paths using straight lines only. Remember each Purple Invader must be attacked by two separate missiles. 3. Create a Mission Report a. Write the equations of each line. Equations must be exact. b. Name the coordinates of the Purple Invaders conquered by each equation. c. In a paragraph, explain your strategy for a successful mission d. Neatness and accuracy are essential! REMEMBER: Plan your attack before setting each missiles path in stone.
