Lifetime Achiever Series

Introduction
Whether we like it or not, goal setting is an integral and important aspect of all our lives. For some of us, this is a conscious process, however for many others it is an unconscious act that is given very little conscious thought. Some people may even be surprised to learn that they are actually setting goals on a daily basis. If you reflect back on your day, you will realize that you are actually setting and achieving an immeasurable amount of goals. Some are relatively small and seemingly insignificant such as deciding what you will eat for lunch, while others are more important and relevant to your future endeavors. However, when it comes to goal setting Ive found that many of my life coaching clients simply didnt know where to begin or how to begin the goal setting process. For this very reason Ive put together the 200+ Question Goal Setting Guide.

Goal Setting Begins with a Question

Its very easy and common to take for granted the power that questions have over our lives. We ask questions consistently each and every day. They help guide and direct the decisions we make and the actions we take. Asking the right kinds of questions will allow for better choices, however, asking the wrong types of questions will only tend to limit them. When it comes to goal setting, questions have the power to unlock hidden opportunities and insights that help us gain a better understanding of what we need to do specifically to achieve our goals and objectives. This guide isnt designed to give you the juicy background theory behind the process of goal setting. Ive already outlined these ideas within Smart Goal Setting and The Grow Model. However, what I will do here is provide you with over 200 questions you can ask yourself that will help you gain more clarity about your goals. These questions will help build the foundations that will prepare you to lay down a solid path for your plan of action.

Getting Started
All of us consistently achieve the little goals we tend to set ourselves on a daily basis. In fact, we dont even give these goals a second thought. Their achievement comes easy and naturally because we achieve them within our comfort zone.

Many people do get stuck achieving bigger goals because these goals take them out of their comfort zones.

Our Genius Capacity

However, many people do get stuck achieving bigger goals that take them out of their comfort zone. Not only do they get stuck, but they become paralyzed by fear, indecision, overwhelm, procrastination or maybe even perfectionism. In fact, there are many reasons why we may not take the actions necessary to achieve our goals. These reasons often stem from limiting belief systems, weak self-concept or misaligned values. I wont go into a discussion about these factors here, however I have created several IQ Matrix maps that will provide you with more information about these subjects.

What I would like to point out here is that if you spend the time slowly breaking down the walls that are preventing you from setting or simply taking the necessary actions to achieve your goals, than this will naturally help you to overcome any fears, limiting beliefs or any other barriers that might be standing in your way.

Question Structure
Ive organized these 200+ goal setting questions into a specific step-by-step structure. This structure has been developed to help you overcome any limiting beliefs and fears that you might have about the goal setting process. However, you might find that some of the question categories dont apply to you. As such, dont waste your time going through them. Instead, move to the sections that will be most helpful for you at this time. On the right side of this page Ive outlined the question categories we will be working through within this eBook. In the beginning the questions will help you to overcome limiting beliefs and gain more confidence about your skills and abilities. As we make further progress, I will list down questions that will help you gain leverage, increase your levels of motivation, identify your lifes purpose, and clarify your specific list of goals, the person you need to become in order to achieve them, and the potential sacrifices you may need to make along this journey.

200+ Goal Setting Questions

Lifetime Achiever Series

#1: Past Successes

First, in order to enhance your confidence about the goal setting process and remove any limiting beliefs you might have that are preventing you from moving forward, its important to identify your past successes and achievements. This stage of questioning will assist you with remembering your past accomplishments and celebrate the fact that you have been successful many times before. It will also help you to better understand the process that you went through along your journey towards achieving these goals.

List down your five most outstanding accomplishments to date and ask...
When did I make up my mind that I was going to pursue this goal? How did I reach this decision? What events, circumstances, or people triggered this motivation to pursue this goal? What was my Why reason for wanting to achieve this goal? How strong were these reasons? Why did I want to pursue this goal now and not in the future? How did I overcome procrastination? What were my reasons? How well did I know what I was doing before pursuing this goal?

Our Genius Capacity

As you make progress through these questions you will slowly develop the confidence you need to use similar goal setting strategies you used in the past to accomplish anything you want in the future. Finally, at the conclusion of this questioning stage you will hopefully see that who you have become is far greater and more important than the goals you have achieved.

It is essential that you identify your consistent accomplishments and the skills that have brought you to the present moment in your life. Keep in mind while working through these questions that the achievement of these small and somewhat insignificant goals, naturally leads you to the attainment of the larger goals and accomplishments in your life. Final Thoughts
I hope that going through this process has been of value for you. Even though we covered a lot of ground, there could still be gaps that you might have identified. If so, please let me know and Ill make sure to add them to future updates of this eBook. The MasterMind Matrix Connection Finally, Im not sure if you noticed while you were going through this process that everything we went through followed a very familiar pattern that extends into the MasterMind Matrix chart. The goal setting questions you went through borrowed components from the MasterMind Matrix to help outline the dynamics of how our goals are related to our psychology, thoughts, behaviors, and actions. If you havent yet downloaded the free MasterMind Matrix eBook, than please visit the download page for more information.

About Author
Adam Sicinski is a qualified life skills coach and works as a visual thinking consultant. In 2008 he founded IQ Matrix a visual thinking company specializing in the production of mind maps and visual thinking aids designed to help people boost their productivity, raise their levels of creativity and gain the most from their natural talents and raw ability. Over a period of many years Adam collected and collated a wide variety of information about cognitive psychology, neuro-linguistic programming and other related fields. This information was used to piece together an allencompassing chart known as the MasterMind Matrix that helps explain why we do the things we do on a daily basis. This chart forms the basis and foundations of all the work that goes into creating each IQ Matrix map.
