Taharah (Purity) & Cleanliness (Remove filth) When we pray (make salah) or touch the Quran to recite (tilaawah) we have to be Taahir (Pure) and clean. To be clean and to be Tahir (Pure) are two different things

Cleanliness Cleanliness is part of Iman A person is clean when you dont have unclean substance (filth) on you or your clothes Examples of unclean substance Urine Wine Blood Vomit Dogs saliva

How to be clean? You become unclean if a dog licks you. You become clean after washing the dogs saliva off. It is very important we wash ourselves carefully after we use the toilet as our clothes can get dirty with urine. Until you are clean Allah will not be happy with your salah or recitation of the Quran (tilaawah).

Taahir To pray a person must be Taahir. You become taahir by either Having a bath Making wadu Making tayammum (if you have a valid reason)
Some of the reasons you will stop being taahir If you use the toilet or pass wind If you cut yourself and the blood flows If you vomit If you fall asleep or faint If you laugh loudly while praying
If you stop being taahir you must make wadu again if you wish to pray or touch the Quran Discussion & Activity

Making Wadu - Step by step
Say
Step 1 Wash hands up to the wrist three times
Step 2 Rinse mouth three times. Gurgle on the last rinse.

Step 3 Clean nose by adding water by hand.
Step 4 Wash face completely three times
Step 5 Wash hands including elbows three times

Dua After making wadu When we have finished making wadu we say
I testify that there is no god except Allah
He is alone. He has no partner
And I also testify that Muhammad is indeed his servant and Messenger
Oh Allah Make me of those who are repentant and make me of those who are purified

Bath (Ghusl) The Prophet peace be upon him) recommended all Muslims to have a bath on Friday and apply perfume befor going to the Friday prayers (Jumma). The Fard actions in having a bath are 1. Rinse our mouth 2. Clean our nose 3. Run water completely over our body(shower) It is good practice to have a quick 2 minute shower every morning if possible. Note: Wadu is not required if somebody has a bath. But if they make wadu there is reward.

Tayammum (Becoming pure without water) When can we do Tayammum If there is no water available to have a bath or make wadu Allah has allowed us to make tayammum. Sometimes if a person is very ill and touching water may be harmful or cause extreme discomfort it is also allowed to do Tayammum.
The fard actions of Tayammum are
1. Intention 2. Touch clean dust with the palm of your hand, shake off the dust by rubbing your hands and wipe your face 3. Wipe your both hands up to the elbows

About Tanzeel Tanzeel was established by concerned parents who were looking for an afterschool class specialising in delivering high quality Tajweed and Hifdh blended with Islamic studies addressing issues facing the younger generation living in the West while at the same time focusing in nurturing the Islamic characteristics and morals within the students. About this book This book is taught at level 2 in Tanzeel on completing Ahsanul Qawaid. It is an introductory Dua book with the aim to start the discussion of salah. Students at this stage have just begun to read Arabic hence the supplications are presented in large easy to read fonts. The book touches the basics of Taharah and then does a 22 step outline on how to pray 2 units of any prayer.
